Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, who was admitted to a hospital in Chandigarh, following chest congestion and fever, was shifted out of ICU on Tuesday, following an improvement in his condition.

A team of doctors attending to Badal shifted him from the Intensive care unit (ICU) to a private room in Postgraduate Institute of Medical Enducation and Research (PGIMER) following a “remarkable and consistent” improvement in his health, a spokesperson for the Chief Minister’s office said here. The medical team led by Head of Pulmonary Medicine, PGIMER, D Behra, has decided to keep him in the hospital till the infection goes away, the spokesman said.

“Meanwhile, the doctors expressed complete satisfaction on his recovery as the chest infection was also gradually decreasing,” the spokesman said. Badal was admitted to a local hospital in Nawanshahar in Punjab after he had complained of chest congestion, four days back. He was later shifted to PGIMER.
