In a shocking act of superstition, a couple from Kanauj district in Uttar Pradesh allowed an exorcist to sacrifice their 15-year-old daughter and rape her corpse, to get out of a financial crisis, Hindustan Times reported.
The victim’s father, Mahaveer Prasad – who is a jeweller – was promised by a man named Krishna Sharma, that if he sacrificed his daughter, he would find five kgs of gold.
Failing to find the promised gold out, Mahaveer complained to police against Krishna for kidnapping his daughter.
Krishna, who occasionally worked as Mahaveer’s driver, told police that he accompanied the victim’s parents to Annapurna temple to offer prayers, after which the girl was stripped in front of the couple to the ritual. Krishna then strangled the girl and raped her corpse while hiding the body as the parents watched.
Finally, he slit her throat to collect her blood to be offered to the deity.
Quoting Additional Superintendent of Police, Keshav Goswami, Hindustan Times reported that the body has been sent for post-mortem. The victim’s parents have also been taken into custody for questioning.
