A Pakistani terrorist was killed and another captured by the Indian Army on Monday, 27 September, evening, after an infiltration attempt along the Uri sector of the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.
The captured militant has surrendered, and has identified himself as Ali Babar Patra, a member of the Lashkar-e-Taiba, and a resident of Pakistan's Punjab, news agency ANI reported, citing sources.
The nabbing of the LeT terrorist comes as part of an ongoing operation of the Indian Army in the Uri region.
"An operation was carried out over nine-days along LoC in Uri sector. It started on 18 September, when our patrol along LoC detected infiltration movement. When encounter took place, two infiltrators came across the border, while four were on the other side," said Major General Virendra Vats, General Officer Commanding, 19 Infantry Division, as quoted by ANI.
The 18 September infiltration attempt, which occurred on the fifth anniversary of the Uri attack of 2016, was reportedly the biggest infiltration attempt across the LoC in recent years.

The Indian Army said on Tuesday, 28 September, that seven terrorists have been neutralised in the last seven days, as part of the army operation in Uri, which began on 18 September after the detection of an infiltration bid. Moreover, four soldiers have sustained bullet injuries during the exchange of fire between the army and the terrorists.
Indicating that the infiltration attempt was made in the Salambad Nala area, which had also been infiltrated by terrorists in 2016, Major General Vats said, "After the firefight, the four terrorists took advantage of dense foliage and went to the Pakistan side. The two terrorists sneaked to the Indian side. Additional forces were mobilised to cordon two terrorists infiltrated into India."

Seven AK series weapons, nine pistols and revolvers, more than 80 grenades, and Indian and Pakistani currency have been recovered as part of the Uri operation.
The operation also marks the first time in recent years that a Pakistani terrorist has been caught during an infiltration attempt.
Following the infiltration attempt and the counter operation, mobile phone and internet services were suspended in Uri district on Monday.
