Pak Prisoner Murdered in Jaipur Jail: Four Arrested 

The prisoners reportedly fought over the volume of a television set and hit the inmate with a large stone.

Four persons were arrested on production of warrant for inquiry, on Wednesday, 27 February, in connection with the murder of a Pakistani prisoner Shakar Ullah, in Jaipur Central jail last week.

The prisoners reportedly fought over the volume of a television set and hit the inmate with a large stone.

Ullah was lodged in the jail's special cell since 2011 and was serving life sentence under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. According to PTI he belonged to the terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba.

A day after the murder, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) had issued a notice to the Government of Rajasthan over the killing on Thursday, 21 February.

The Commission had also asked all the states and Union Territories to take precautionary measures in jails where Pakistani nationals are lodged, reported ANI.

Pakistan Seeks India’s Response on Inmates’ ‘Killing’

Pakistan had expressed concern and sought response from India on the “killing” of the Pakistani prisoner.

According to Pakistan's Foreign Office (FO), he was beaten to death by a group of Indian inmates in retaliation of the Pulwama incident, reported PTI.

“Pakistan is gravely concerned at media reports regarding the brutal killing of a Pakistani prisoner.”

Pakistan also called upon the Indian government to ensure foolproof security to all Pakistani prisoners lodged in Indian jails as well as Pakistani visitors to India.

Precaution Beefed Up for Pakistani Prisoners

As a precautionary measure, Pakistani prisoners lodged in other jails of the country were shifted to separate barracks in the wake of the incident.

Confirming the development, PVK Prasad, IG (Prisons), had said, ''A Pakistani prisoner lodged in Dehradun jail has been kept in a separate barrack.''
