BJP Leaders Khattar & Saini Find Mention In Pak’s Letter to UN

A 7-page letter penned by Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazar quotes these politicians’ remarks on Kashmiri women.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and BJP MLA from Uttar Pradesh Vikram Saini have been mentioned in Pakistan’s letter to the United Nations. In it, Pakistan claims there have been massive human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370.

The seven-page letter, penned by Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazar, cites these leader’s remarks on Kashmiri women, according to news agency IANS.

What Did Khattar & Saini Say?

Under the section "gender-based violence as a weapon of war", the letter mentions what Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar said on 10 August, that with Kashmir now ‘open’, "brides will be brought from there to here".

He had later claimed the statement was a ‘joke’.

Along similar lines, the paper also cited MLA Vikram Saini’s comments about Kashmiri women.

Mazari mentioned a video that surfaced on 6 August, in which the BJP MLA can be heard saying that Muslim party workers should “rejoice” at the revocation of Kashmir’s special status because “now they can marry the fair [gori] Kashmiri women”.

Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi Also Mentioned

According to Union Minister Prakash Javadekar, Pakistan’s letter states that acts of violence in the Valley have been acknowledged by mainstream political leaders like Rahul Gandhi, reported NDTV.

“The Pakistani application to the UN mentions remarks made by Rahul Gandhi. The application states that acts of violence have been acknowledged by mainstream party leaders such as Rahul Gandhi.”

The senior Congress leader faced a lot of flak from BJP as his comments on Kashmir were being used apparently being used against the nation.

Mr Javedkar has also demanded an apology from Mr Gandhi and the Congress, according to NDTV.

No Room For Pakistan In Kashmir Matter: Rahul Gandhi

Clarifying his stance on this entire matter, Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter to reaffirm that he strongly believes that Kashmir is India’s internal issue and that there is no room for Pakistan’s interference.
