Nearly 550 flights scheduled for Wednesday, 7 March, from the Newark International Airport in New Jersey, US, have been cancelled due to the nor'easter, a macro-scale cyclone, reported ANI.
According to Reuters, New York and surrounding states faced a second winter storm within a week after the cyclone slammed the Midwest on Monday, 5 March, leaving at least eight people dead.
Across the country, more than 2,100 flights had been canceled for Wednesday and even a few for Thursday, 8 March, as airlines struggled with schedules, reported USA Today.
Thousands of citizens are also facing power cuts from the last nor'easter with 250,000 homes and businesses in the region still without power on Tuesday, 6 March.
All schools were closed in Philadelphia while schools across the region cancelled classes or shortened the school day ahead of the storm on Wednesday, local media reported.
Trains between Washington and Boston as well as some services in Pennsylvania, New York and other areas of the northeastern and mid-Atlantic United States.
The storm is expected to head west into Pennsylvania and up past Boston into New England, reported Reuters. According to USA Today, more than 50 million people live in areas under a storm watch or warning, with some areas bracing for up to 18 inches of snow before the storm winds.
The governors of New Jersey and Pennsylvania declared states of emergency, which gives them access to support from the US government if needed. New Jersey's Department of Health warned of treacherous driving conditions.
