The odd-even scheme may return during the winter, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Sunday during his live chat session.

Responding to a query on the future of the road-rationing measure during the ‘Talk to AK’ session, he said it would be considered again during the winter months when the pollution levels are on the higher side.

We will surely think of implementing it. Transport Minister (Satyendra Jain) has already said that pollution goes up during winter months. So we will think of implementing it during the winter months.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia backed Kejriwal, saying that more steps need to be taken to improve the public transport system.

The Lt Governor had stopped the bus aggregator service. Our ultimate objective is to improve public transport.

Satyendra Jain recently said that there was no need to implement the third phase of the odd-even scheme during the monsoons as pollution is usually at its lowest level during the period.

Whenever the scheme is implemented, it would be in the winter season when the pollution levels are high.

The first and second editions of the road-rationing scheme had been implemented in January and April. Experts consider it to be an effective emergency response to bring down peak levels of air pollution.
