Dreaded gangster Ankit Bhadu was killed in an encounter at Peer Muchalla by the Punjab Police special intelligence cell on Thursday, 7 February.

A close aide of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, Bhadu (23) had a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head, which had been announced by the Rajasthan police, The Tribune reported.

In fact, Bhadu was on the Rajasthan police’s ‘Most Wanted’ list, in connection with numerous cases of murder, extortion, loot and dacoity.

Although he was arrested by the Fazilka police in July 2015, he had jumped his regular bail from Kapurthala jail in October 2017, the report added.

He was even accused of having killed a history-sheeter Jordan in Sriganganagar in May 2018, the report claimed. Bhadu had also issued open threats to the police in many states.

After discussions with the Rajasthan police, a crime control unit of Punjab led by DSP Bikram Brar - who had killed noted gangster Vicky Gounder - was formed. After receiving a tip-off from Bhadu’s girlfriend, who had been nabbed by the police when she landed in Delhi a few days ago, the team along with several Rajpura policemen engaged in a shootout with Bhadu at Peer Muchalla near Zirakpur, the report added.

Bhadu was a resident of Sherewala village in Abohar district of Punjab and son of an agriculturist, Shiv Parkas, the report claimed.
