The father of the Class IX girl who allegedly committed suicide at her home in Noida said he would knock the doors of the Supreme Court seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the death of his daughter, The Times of India reported on Monday, 26 March.

Raghav Shah, the girl’s father was addressing a joint press conference along with the parents of the eight-year-old boy who was allegedly killed by a senior student in a Gurgaon school. On being asked why he was not approaching a local court, he said the case is a “national” one which calls for a “nation-wide movement”, the TOI report added. If need be, he plans to go to the “PMO or India Gate”.

Shah claimed that his daughter complained of being sexually harassed in November and December but he took it as an “encouraging gesture” from her teacher. In another instance, the deceased student was denied a sanitary napkin and was then hauled for being late for the class, he added.

The father however, refused to share evidence of sexual harassment allegations with the police, instead he said he will give it to the court, the daily reported.

No arrests have been made yet. Do they think my daughter lied about harassment by the teachers? Is the police under pressure or did they take bribes? I want justice and a CBI probe to be done.

Shobhit D Saxena, ACP Mayur Vihar, told The Times of India that the protesters refused to budge and clear the road and they sought the help of Noida police to end the stand-off on the highway.

The Times of India also reported that an ambulance was called for the girl’s parents but they declined treatment.

Meanwhile, the school authorities continue to defy the allegation leveled against them and they claim that they never received any complaints from the parents. The school principal has also gone on to say that they always supported the girl, and they will fully cooperate with the investigation, reported News18.

The Noida police is investigating the matter to ascertain the reason behind the girl’s suicide.

According to a report in NDTV, the police seized a notebook from the girl’s home which provides information on how she felt about herself. The girl had scribbled “I am a failure”, “I am dumb” on her notebook.

Many students failed in Maths, Science and Social Science, so we can’t say if she was failed deliberately or her answers were not worth the passing marks. Committee of experts will investigate it. Further probe is underway.
