A BJP candidate in Haryana, Dudaram Bishnoi while addressing a public gathering in Fatehabad on Wednesday, 9 October said that no challan will be issued to their vehicles by the authorities if he is elected as their representative.

“Manohar Lal Khattar will become the Chief Minister again. You will elect me as your MLA from this constituency. It’s about drug abuse, education, the authorities who issue a challan to the motorcycle riders — all these petty problems will go away when your brother or son will become an MLA,” said Bishnoi.

He added that he recognises people from their faces and profession and one will not need to go through any problems once he is elected.

In August, Parliament had passed the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act that proposed hefty penalties for violation of traffic laws from 1 September onwards.

The new Act created a lot of buzz amidst daily commuters, car and bike owners. Reports of commuters imposed with heavy fines have made it to the headlines ever since, with some states opting to not implement the new fines immediately.

Elections for the state assemblies in two key BJP-ruled states, Haryana and Maharashtra, will be held on 21 October. The results of both the state elections will be declared on 24 October.
