NIA Issues Arrest Warrant Against JeM Chief Masood Azhar
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has issued an arrest warrant against Chief of terror group Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) Masood Azhar, along with Abdul Rauf, Kashif Jan and Shahid Latif on Friday.
The warrant was issued by a special NIA court in Mohali, Punjab in the Pathankot terror attack case.
A group of terrorists, believed to be from JeM, stormed into the Pathankot Air Force base on the night of 2 January 2016. Seven members of the Indian security forces were killed in the gunfight.
A Joint Investigation Team (JIT) from Pakistan visited the crime scene between 27 and 29 March and spoke to witnesses in the case. A statement from the Pakistan Foreign Ministry said that the witnesses from the Indian armed forces were not a part of their investigation.
The Pakistan JIT has concluded that it was the Indian forces orchestrated the Pathankot attack.
