The National Investigation Agency’s (NIA) report on Mohammad Naveed alias Usman, the alleged Pakistani terrorist arrested on 5 August, leaves little room for doubt that Pakistan’s proxy war or ‘death by a thousand cuts’ against India continues.

The interrogation report, accessed by The Quint states that Naveed infiltrated into the Kashmir valley from near BOP Noori on 2 June. He did so with three others – Abu Noman, Abu Ukasha and Abu Mohd. Naveed claims that of his companions, Abu Noman, a resident of Bahawalpur, Pakistan, was the ex-bodyguard of Hafiz Saeed, Jamaat-ud-Dawah chief.

Naveed Received Same Training as Kasab

The NIA interrogation report also reveals that Naveed underwent several rounds of training. First, 21 days of the ‘Daura-e-Aam’ at Khyber Markaz, Faislabad, a course that focuses on warfare and religion in which Rambo movies are shown to would-be fighters.

Naveed also underwent a three-month-long training in handling various weapons, rocket launchers at the Maskar Aksa camp of the LeT in PoK. This course is also known as ‘Daura-e-Khas’ - which 26/11 attacker Ajmal Kasab too underwent.

Naveed in fact told interrogators that during the training in Maskar Aksa, they were told not to repeat the mistakes made by Kasab.

Naveed trained at the same camp that Ajmal Kasab attended. He was told not to repeat the mistakes made by Kasab.

Within a couple of weeks of Naveed’s arrest, another alleged Pakistani terrorist Sajjad Ahmed was captured on 27 August. His four associates were killed in an overnight encounter with the army in Kashmir near the Line of Control (LoC) in Rafiabad, Baramulla district. Sajjad is a resident of Tehsil Kot Addu, District Muzaffargarh in Pakistan.

The interrogation report reveals that Sajjad and his associates were briefed on UAVs flown by Indian Security Forces in the border areas. Further, the terrorist group was advised against the use of mobile phones and use satellite phones only in emergencies. A new comms application (YSMS) was installed in a wireless set for secure communication.

Sajjad too underwent ‘Daura-e-Aam’, ‘Daura-e-Sufa’ and ‘Daura-e-Khas’ at Maskar Aksa near Muzaffarabad, PoK, in 2012. His interrogation reveals that this training camp was attended by 45 youths mostly from Punjab (Pakistan). Sajjad also states that he underwent another two-month-long training – ‘Daura-e-Lashkar’ – in May 2013 in Marsad.
