“Jai Hind! Jai Maharashtra!”: PM Netanyahu at Shalom Bollywood

“Jai Hindi! Jai Maharashtra! Jai Israel!” said Netanyahu, during his speech at Shalom Bollywood, an event where he urged Bollywood to visit his country for their projects and work closely with their Israeli counterparts.

Israel Prime Minister Netanyahu’s trip to Mumbai was definitely packed to the last second. Meeting powerful CEOs for breakfast, attending business summits in the afternoon, meeting with Mumbai’s Jewish population and addressing their problems, and paying respects at the memorial for the 26/11 victims.

But the prime minister and his wife couldn’t leave Mumbai without experiencing a taste of Bollywood!

In an event named ‘Shalom Bollywood’, Netanyahu presented a speech on how Bollywood should work with the Israeli Film and Television Industry and invited them to come for shoots in Israel. His wife and he interacted with some of the A-listers within the industry, that included the Bachchans, Karan Johar, Vivek Oberoi, Imtiaz Ali among others.

At the end of his speech, Netanyahu asked all the Bollywood actors and directors to join him on stage for a selfie so that: “a few hundred million people can see the great friendship between our two countries. Thank you, Bollywood! Jai Hind! Jai Maharashtra! Jai Israel!”

Earlier in his speech, reports Hindustan Times, the prime minister had also said: “The world loves Bollywood, Israel loves Bollywood, I love Bollywood.”
