Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is likely to visit India for a three-day-trip on 6 April, reported The Economic Times.

Oli was reportedly planning his India visit ever since External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached out to him after he assumed office in February.

Nepal Foreign Minister Pradip Gyawali will visit Delhi ahead of Oli’s trip to prepare for the visit.

According to the report, Oli is likely to invite Modi to visit Kathmandu for the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) summit.

Oli assumed office in February 2018 after former PM Sher Bahadur Deuba resigned. Oli is the leader of the largest party in the Federal Parliament, the Communist Party of Nepal.

Modi had congratulated Oli a day after he was appointed Prime Minister through a phone call and had invited him to India, reported IANS. Modi had also expressed his best wishes for the successful tenure of Oli's premiership and had pledged to provide all possible cooperation for the development of Nepal, according to a statement issued by Oli's private secretariat.
