NCC Collects Cadets’ Numbers, Email IDs for Chat With PM Modi

So far, data has been collected for 9 lakh cadets but session is yet to be fixed depending on PM’s schedule.

The personal mobile numbers and e-mail IDs of more than 13 lakh students of the National Cadets Corps (NCC) are being collected for the Prime Minister’s direct interactive session with the cadets, the Indian Express reported. For the exercise, students have to install ‘Narendra Modi app’ on their phones.

The NCC Director General Lt Gen B S Sahrawat shared a letter with all the state directorates on 23 February, the daily reported. In case, the cadets don’t have a phone, their parents’ numbers should be mentioned.

The PM has desired a direct interaction with maximum cadets of NCC. All state directorates were directed to share a roll of all NCC cadets with their “Name, Mobile No, Email-ID and Remarks coln (column).

Till date, data has been gathered for 9 lakh cadets to be submitted to the PMO but no date has been fixed for an appointment with the PM since the said meeting depends on his schedule, stated the report.

The process, the body stated, is likely to be completed within a fortnight. Indian Express also mentioned that the PM asked the DG NCC to “review NCC’s role as per current needs and requirements.”

According to a Mumbai Mirror report dated 28 February, students enrolled in NCC programme in the state were being prodded to install the official app of Narendra Modi on their phones, ahead of interaction scheduled for March.

The National Cadet Corps (NCC), known to be the largest voluntary uniformed youth organisation in the world came into existence by an Act of Parliament in 1948. The body came into effect on the recommendations of the Cadet Corps Committee, headed by P N Kunzru.
