1. 4 Months Late, Maharashtra Pollution Control Board Submits Plan To Combat Air Pollution
The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) has submitted air pollution mitigation plans for 17 cities in the state four months after the deadline, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) said.
The suggested measures include adopting the most advanced emission standard for automobiles, daily pollution checks for vehicles and increasing the tree cover.
If approved by the CPCB, it will be implemented immediately in Mumbai and Aurangabad before being replicated in the other cities.

2. Court Rejects Bail Of CSMT Bridge Structural Auditor
The Esplanade court on Friday rejected the bail plea filed by Neeraj Kumar Desai, whose firm, Prof DD Desai’s Associated Engineering Consultants and Analysts Private Limited had conducted a structural audit of the Himalaya bridge that collapsed on March 14, killing six and injuring 31.
Advocate Rizwan Merchant and advocate Srushti Thakkar on Thursday argued that on October 25, 2016, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) commissioner had gone to inspect it personally and he had observed that it was in a very shabby condition. He had then given directions to the assistant commissioner of the A ward to carry out cosmetic repairs to the bridge, and it should be done at the earliest under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

3. VBA’s Mallikarjun Pujari Files Nomination From Thane
Mallikarjun Pujari, a candidate of Prakash Ambedkar-led Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi, filed his nomination from Thane constituency on Friday. Pujari — the 48-year-old former Navi Mumbai president of the Rashtriya Samaj Paksha (RSP), belonging to the Dhangar community — said his modest background would make him understand the “issues of the marginalised sections in his constituency better”.
The son of a former truck driver, Pujari, according to his nomination affidavit, has completed schooling till Class IV. He worked in the construction business before joining full-time with the RSP.

4. Mumbai Monorail: A Month After Phase-2 Was Opened, Only 5 Lakh Use Corridor
A month after chief minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated phase-2 (Chembur to Jacob Circle) of the monorail, thereby opening up the entire monorail corridor, only around five lakh commuters have travelled in it. During the inauguration, Fadnavis had said opening of the second phase will attract a ridership of 30 lakh a month in the corridor.
As per data available with Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), 5,55,054 commuters took the monorail till March 31. This has earned revenue of ₹96.29 lakh for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).

5. Chasing Thief, Woman Falls Off Moving Train
A 26-year-old woman fell off a moving train on to the platform at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) on Thursday evening while trying to stop a thief who flicked her bag.
The incident happened at around 7:46 pm when Aarti Singh, who travels from CSMT to Ghatkopar, boarded a Titwala-bound fast local from platform no 5 of CSMT. Singh boarded the train and stood on the footboard instead of catching a seat inside the compartment
