1. RSP Won’t Fight State Polls on BJP Symbol
The Rashtriya Samaj Paksha, one of the Bharatiya Janata Party-Shiv Sena allies, on Tuesday announced they won’t fight the state Assembly elections, likely in October, on the BJP’s symbol, lotus.
RSP candidates had contested the 2014 Assembly polls on their party symbol. RSP’s founder and state minister Mahadev Jankar said, “I would not talk for other alliance partners, but we will not contest the election on the BJP’s symbol.” Reacting to the statement, water resources minister Girish Mahajan said, “We want smaller parties to field candidates on our symbol to better their chances of winning. We will try to convince leaders from these parties to do so.”

2. Nirav Modi’s Rolls Royce Ghost Sold for Rs 1.7 Cr
A Rolls Royce Ghost and Porsche Panamera belonging to diamantaire Nirav Modi were sold for Rs 1.70 crore and Rs 60 lakh, respectively, in a re-auction held by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday.
Six of 12 cars were put on re-auction as the ED found the bids less for the Rolls Royce Ghost and Porsche Panamera, while sellers failed to deposit the requisite amount for four other cars. In the previous auction, the Rolls Royce Ghost fetched Rs1.33 crore while the bidding for the Porsche Panamera ended at Rs 54.60 lakh.

3. HC Asks MHADA to List Dos-Don’Ts for Demolition
The Bombay High Court has asked the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) to list out precautions it proposes to take while bringing down the Esplanade Mansion, a 150-year-old heritage structure in Kala Ghoda that was vacated on Monday after years of legal battle between its 156 occupants and the state government. Though there have been suggestions to restore the Art Deco building, an IIT-Bombay report had declared it dangerous and advised demolition.

4. Brain Stroke Patient at KeM Goes Missing 4 Days After Admission
Four days after suffering a haemorrhagic stroke, a 56-year-old old BEST employee has gone “missing” from KEM Hospital in Parel. While his family members accused the hospital of negligence, the civic-run facility declared him an absconder.
On May 29, Pravin Mhatre, who works at BEST’s Colaba office, went to visit his brother Rajesh Mhatre, but as soon as he he reached the residence in Deonar, he complained of a headache, loss of vision, weakness and dizziness. Rajesh rushed him to KEM Hospital. The authorities admitted him to ward 9 and began treatment. “The doctors told us that Pravin suffered a stroke”, said Rajesh.

5. Bridge Closure Plunges City Into Chaos
With crucial bridges like the Juhu Tara Road bridge and Laxmi Baug nullah bridge being shut in the city, motorists are complaining of traffic jams and chaos.
Of the 29 completely dilapidated bridges in Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is yet to demolish 21. It has shut down 12 of these ahead of the monsoon while the rest will be shut soon. One of them, the Bandra-Dharavi Road T-junction bridge, when closed, will lead to further inconvenience for motorists.
