1. Rs 14,000 Crore Lost to Floods in 10 Years
Mumbai lost Rs 14,000 crore between 2005 and 2015 to fl oods caused by heavy rains, a report by the United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) and top accounting fi rm KPMG has revealed.
The floods also left 3000 people dead during this period, including over a thousand who perished in the July 26, 2005 deluge when the city received 944 mm of rain in 24 hours, a 100-year high, the report says.

2. Probe consultants’ role in Metro 3 project: Aaditya Thackeray
A day after the managing director of Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MMRCL) said the Metro 3 will not be feasible without a car shed at Aarey Colony, Yuva Sena chief Aaditya Thackeray on Tuesday demanded a probe into the funds spent on consultants for the project and questioned if there was a scam brewing.
The Metro Line 3, also known as Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ line, is the first underground metro line in the Mumbai.
“Is it a scam if MMRCL is saying Metro 3 project will not happen if the car shed is moved out of Aarey Colony? Who were the consultants for the projects? How much money was spent on them? An inquiry should be conducted against the consultants,” said Aaditya while addressing the media at the Shiv Sena headquarters in Dadar.

3. MMRDA’s U-Turn on Aarey Land
Nearly a week after it came to light that the MMRDA had raised a request for 29,869 sq ft land at Aarey Colony for the Andheri-Kanjurmarg Metro 6 line, it has made a complete U-turn, saying no land was sought.
MMRDA Commissioner RA Rajeev issued a clarification last evening, saying the agency had asked for “two small vacant plots having no trees” along the Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road (JVLR), but alternative arrangements have now been made. Rajeev’s statement said that a plot measuring about 1,500 sq mt, located between JVLR and the Adani Electricity Management Institute, was already being used for the Metro work for the past one year and the arrangement will continue for another 12 months.

4. Crawford Market: Part of Building Collapses, 23-Year-Old Man Feared Trapped
A 23-year-old man is feared trapped under debris after a part of a four-storey building collapsed near Crawford Market late Tuesday, said police.
The ground-plus four-storey Yusuf building is situated opposite the CID office in Fort. Around 9.15 pm, the rear portion of the building collapsed, officials from the disaster management department said.
So far, 14 people, trapped under the debris, have been rescued, the police said. Shubham Shukla, a resident of Yusuf building, was still missing, the police said.

5.From Saturday, AC Locals All Through the Week
Come Saturday, AC train services on Western Railway will be available all seven days of the week. The decision to run AC services throughout the week was taken last week at a high-level meeting chaired by railway minister Piyush Goyel who directed officials to increase the frequency of AC locals.
As of now WR runs 12 AC services from Monday to Friday.
