1. ‘Dabholkar, Pansare Killings Had Several Commonalities’
The investigating agencies informed the Bombay high court (HC) on Friday that they have “unearthed several commonalities” in the Narendra Dabholkar-Govind Pansare murder cases. The division bench of justice SC Dharmadhikari and justice GS Patel was hearing the petitions filed by Dabholkar and Pansare’s families, in which they sought a court-monitored probe on the investigations conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the Maharashtra Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

2. 2006 Malegaon Blasts Case: Bombay High Court Grants Bail to Four
The Bombay high court (HC) on Friday granted bail to four accused in the 2006 Malegaon blasts case on the grounds that it was not possible to conclude that the accusations made against them were prima facie true.
The court further held that the accused had already been in jail since 2013 and as per the guidelines set out by the Supreme Court, they were eligible for bail as the trial was not likely to be concluded within the next six months. The court allowed the applications on a cash bail of Rs 50,000 each and directed the accused to attend the trial regularly.

3. Mumbai: Son denied admission in Vashi school for having single parent, says mother
A 27-year-old single mother was allegedly denied an admission form for her seven-year-old son at St Lawrence School in Vashi. The woman, who works as a sales manager at a private company, posted a video on social media in which another woman, who is purportedly the principal of the school, is seen saying the school “cannot handle children of single parents”.
The school’s management issued a statement saying it will “look into the matter and follow due process”. Sujata Mohite, a resident of Nerul, said she was seeking admission for her son in Class II at the school since April.

4. Reach out to Farmers, Uddhav Thackeray Tells His Cadre
With the Assembly elections due in the next few months, the Shiv Sena seems to be adopting an aggressive stance to woo farmers.
In a meeting of Sena leaders and office-bearers on Friday, Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray asked them to provide relief to farmers who are facing unprecedented drought. “Go and reach out to farmers and provide them all possible assistance,” said Thackeray, in the meeting.

5. Thane: Man ‘Beats Wife to Death’ in Front of Minor Daughter, Son
A 30-year-old man was arrested for allegedly beating his wife to death in Mumbra on Friday. Police said the man killed his wife in front of their seven-year-old daughter and three-year-old son.
“The accused and his wife lived in a chawl and worked as daily wage labourers. On Friday, when he returned from work, he asked his wife to buy alcohol for him,” said an officer.
