1. Indrani Mukerjea And Peter Mukerjea To Get Divorced By Mutual Consent
Indrani Mukerjea and her husband Peter Mukerjea have decided to get officially divorced through mutual consent. Both Indrani and Peter Mukerjea are accused in the sensational Sheena Bora murder case. Sheena Bora was allegedly abducted and murdered back in 2012.
While Mumbai police arrested Indrani Mukerjea and her former husband Peter for the crime, it was the CBI who later on, took over the murder case.
A lawyer, who was present in the family court, confirmed the development and said that the modalities of division of assets will be worked out amicably.

2. After Kamala Mills Blaze, Special Cell Finds 1,468 Mumbai Buildings Are Not Fire-Safe
A special cell— formed after the tragic Kamala Mills fire of 2017 — has found that nearly half of the 3,151 buildings it checked were not fire-safe or sufficiently equipped to fight a blaze.
Fourteen people were killed in the blaze at two restaurants at Kamala Mills in December 2017. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) then decided to form 34 special fire compliance cells to inspect Mumbai’s approximately three lakh buildings for fire safety.
The cells have checked 3,151 buildings since they were formed and sent notices to 1,468 of them for non-compliance, primary data from the fire brigade showed. After these notices, 450 buildings have set their internal fire safety mechanisms in order.

3. BMC Back Seeking St Andrew’s and St Peter’s Land for Hill Road Widening
The spectre of losing their land in Hill Road widening has returned to haunt St Andrew’s, St Peter’s churches as also the Tata Agiary.
The proposal to take land away from the three shrines was withdrawn once in the past following pressure from the communities, but it seems the BMC has failed to find any other way to unclog Hill Road in Bandra.
Officials of St Andrew’s, St Peter’s and the Tata Agiary were informed orally that they would have to give up their setback land for the road widening. Notices have also been issued to licenced hawkers lining the road from Bandra railway station to Mehboob studio.

4. Children’s Home in Mankhurd to Make Way for Metro Work
The sprawling Mankhurdcompound with children’s shelters and observation homes may be redeveloped or relocated as metro planners press ahead with the proposed line 2B between Andheri West and Mandale.
Development authority MMRDA, which is implementing the project, wants a huge chunk of land inside the compound to set up a metro casting yard. The state has now approved the request, Mirrorhas learned.

6. Palghar School Bus Ferries Kids With One Tyre Less
A major mishap was averted as alert citizens stopped a school bus ferrying children midway in Palghar on Monday after they noticed that the vehicle was running with one tyre less.
The bus had two tyres on the front side but one tyre was missing from one of the two sets of wheels on the rear side.
This could have led to a serious accident, with high chances of the bus overturning. No complaint has been registered in the incident so far.

7. Mumbai DRI Probe: Drugs Gang’s Cartel Links Under Scanner
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) is probing into the foreign links of the members, arrested for the inter-state Ketamine drug manufacturing and smuggling syndicate, which the agency recently busted. The gang operates internationally in Canada and across Africa.
DRI officials suspect, the key members of the gang-Jimi Singh Sandhu and British national Jonathan Thorn alias John,were smuggling Ketamine out of India and selling it to rackets operating in Canada and Africa.

8. Reliance Energy to Cut off Supply to Mumbai Slum Over Rs 63 Crore Dues
In one of the biggest crackdowns for non-payment of dues, Reliance Energy said it will discontinue power supply to 3,250 consumers of Siddharth Colony in Chembur for outstanding dues that have now reached up to ₹63 crore.
Reliance Energy would use section 56 (1) of Electricity Act, 2003, to do so. Siddharth Colony is a major slum in the eastern suburbs of Mumbai and a significant number of residents come from socially backward communities. According to a release issued by Reliance Energy, “Despite several notices, offers of payment through installments, and token disconnections, these residents have not paid their bills, resulting in arrears mounting to ₹63 crore in over ten years.”
