The Parksite police, who have arrested Shiv Sena worker Shitap for culpable homicide, got this information from the building residents, who told the cops of Shitap’s “ploy” to drive them out of their homes.

2. Churchgate-Borivali Slow Locals to Soon Go Faster

Slow trains on the Churchgate-Borivali section of Western Railway will soon go faster thanks to a tweak in the signalling system along the route. Railway sources said the addition of a flashing ‘double yellow’ to the existing red, yellow and green signals will help slow trains shave three to five minutes from the 66 minute travel time.

3. Mum-Nagpur E-way Project Boss Faces Corruption Charge

High profile bureaucrat and Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) chief Radheshyam Mopalwar faced the brunt of the Congress-NCP led opposition in the state legislature on Wednesday as they circulated an audio clip where he was purportedly fixing a deal for a plot.

Mopalwar is heading Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s pet project, the Mumbai-Nagpur Super Communication expressway.

4. Uproar In House, But Cm Rejects Ouster Demand

The Congress-NCP led opposition created a ruckus in the state assembly on Wednesday, demanding resignation of housing minister Prakash Mehta, who is facing allegations of favouring a slum rehabilitation authority (SRA) project at MP Mill compound in Tardeo.

Former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan was at the forefront of the attack on Mehta. However, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis refused to accept the demand for his ouster.

5. Sheena Bora Murder Case: Indrani Mukerjea's Driver Says He Fears For His Life

Sheena Bora murder case accused-turned-approver Shyamvar Rai on Tuesday said he fears for his life. Main accused Indrani Mukerjea's former driver spoke about his apprehensions regarding his safety and security on Tuesday with the investigating officer of the case, after prosecution concluded his examination in a special CBI court.

After the examination, KK Singh, the investigating officer from the CBI made an application in the court saying, "After his deposition in the court, Rai met me and expressed that he is apprehensive about his personal safety and security inside the jail and while he is travelling to attend the proceedings in the court." This development came after Rai identified Indrani, Peter Mukerjea and Sanjeev Khanna in the court.

6. Seven Teens Held For Sexually Assaulting 16-year-old Boy For a Year

DN Nagar police have arres­ted seven people for sexually assaulting a 16-year-old boy for a year. The incident came to light after the teenager approached the cops. In his complaint, the boy alleged that 15 locals repeatedly assaulted him.

An officer said, "Last August, one of the teen’s friends took him to his house and sexually assaulted him. The latter thre­atened the boy not to reveal the incident to anyone. But a few days later, some friends of the accused cornered the boy, tell­ing him they were aware of the assault, and violated him."

Police sources said the accused are mostly teenagers.

7. 16-year-old's Family Blames Builder, No-grilles Policy For Death Of Teen

A 16-year-old girl plunged to her death last night from the 27th floor of a Thane high-rise allegedly while hanging a towel on the balcony. Around 7 pm, Jyoti Sharma, a resident of Mayflower at Hiranandani, Thane, had returned home drenched.

She changed into dry clothes and wrapped her hair in a towel. Half an hour later, she stepped out onto the balcony to hang the towel on the clothesline, but allegedly lost her balance and fell to her death. None of the flats in the building has a grille in the balcony, her family alleges.
