In a tragic incident that took place on 15 October 2018, a 20-year-old aspiring model was allegedly killed by a 19-year-old aspiring photographer, as she had refused to sleep with him, a charge sheet filed by the Bangur Nagar police, stated.

According to the police, the photographer – Syed Muzammil – had met Mansi Dixit, a few days before the incident and found her attractive. He then called her to his house in Mumbai’s Andheri, on the pretext of a photoshoot. Once she reached, he allegedly propositioned her to sleep with him, and when she refused to do so, he killed her, Hindustan Times reported.

“I called her on the pretext of a photoshoot and demanded to have sex with her. When she refused, I hit her on the head with a wooden stool,” Muzammil reportedly told the police, the report added.

When Dixit fell to the floor, unconscious, Muzammil molested and even attempted to rape her, the charge sheet claimed. This was confirmed by an abrasion found on her private parts during the post-mortem, the report added.

Muzammil then allegedly strangled her to death with a rope and a lace. He stuffed her body inside a bag and booked a cab. However, when the driver asked him why the bag he was carrying was so heavy, Muzammil cancelled the ride, the charge sheet, quoting the cab driver’s statement, reportedly said.

Muzammil booked another cab to the airport. However, when he got in, he changed the location to a road near Mindspace in Malad, the cab driver stated, according to the Hindustan Times report.

“He got out, left the bag near the footpath in a hurry and left in an autorickshaw.”
The cab driver said in his statement, as reported by Hindustan Times.

The cab driver called the police to narrate what he had seen, who then found Dixit’s body with the rope still dangling around her neck. The police then tracked Muzammil down to his Oshiwara apartment, the report added.

When they reached out to his family, the latter said that Muzammil had come to Mumbai from Hyderabad to visit an ailing relative. Two other women whom Muzammil had approached for photoshoots, also recorded their statement with the police.
