Five teenagers allegedly gang-raped a 20-year-old in Delhi on Wednesday, 20 November. The police registered a complaint after the woman approached them the next day, reported PTI.
The woman, a resident of Jahangirpuri, had recently befriended the juveniles who lived nearby.
In her statement, the victim told the police that she bumped into the five teenagers near a garbage dump around 10 pm on Wednesday, 20 December. They took her to a desolate spot nearby and raped her taking turns, reported The Times of India.
The woman alleged that they threatened her with dire consequences and held her hostage for around five hours.
The accused minors reside in the same colony as that of the rape survivor, and are known to her family. The police said the accused are school dropouts and worked part-time at the garbage dump.
The woman claimed that they asked her not to inform anyone about the incident, the police said.
She was taken for a medical examination, after which a case of gang-rape was registered against the five accused. Her statement under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) would be recorded before a magistrate on Friday, 22 December, TOI reported.
Her family filed a complaint, following which all the accused were arrested from their hideouts in west Delhi. They are residents of Jahangirpuri.
