A couple of days ago, the fast food market giant, McDonald’s India, came under the public radar for compromising personal information of almost 2.2 million online customers, who have used its delivery app service.

After initially maintaining silence over the matter, the company has finally released an official statement:

We would like to inform our users that our website and app does not store any sensitive financial data of the users like credit card details, wallet passwords or bank account information. The website and app has always been safe to use, and we update security measure on a regular basis. As a precautionary measure, we would also urge our users to update the McDelivery app on their devices.

The issue started when cyber security firm Fallible made a public disclosure on Hackernoon, claiming “McDelivery’s leaking personal data of more than 2.2 million of its users, which includes name, email address, phone number, home address, accurate home coordinates and social profile links.”
