MP State Board Class 12 Mathematics Paper Leaks on WhatsApp
The district education officer (DEO) is said to be the admin of the WhatsApp group.
The Mathematics question paper for Class XII examination of the Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) reportedly got leaked in a WhatsApp group, according to sources in the education department. The district education officer (DEO) is said to be the admin of the group.
Photos of the question paper began circulating on WhatsApp by 8 am, an hour before the scheduled commencement of examination in Khachrod of Sehore district in a WhatsApp group related to schools and school education department, named ‘Inf of private school Sehore.’
The incident took place at Khachrod village of Ashta tehsil of Sehore district on Saturday morning, 23 March.
Soon, it went viral among WhatsApp groups and reached adjacent districts including Bhopal.
On conditions of anonymity, a teacher said the WhatsApp group has other department officials from Sehore including the DEO and district project coordinator as admins of the group.
Confirming the incident, the District Education Officer of Sehore, Suresh Kumar Tripathi admitted that the mathematics question paper had gone public before start of the examination.
“I have sent the report to the Board officials. The question paper was shared at 8.25 am, by that time, students have to enter the classrooms and therefore students did not get any benefit of paper leak,” said Tripathi.
Students appearing in examinations are not allowed to carry electronic devices including mobile phones, and therefore, it (question paper) cannot be considered as ‘out’ in public, said Tripathi. A report on the matter has been sent to the concerned department, he also said.
Tripathi further said that the WhatsApp group called ‘Inf of private school Sehore’ has been found guilty of circulating the question paper through social media. Cambridge School, Sehore, has been found guilty in the initial inquiry, added Tripathi.
“The recognition of Cambridge School will be cancelled if it is found involved in paper leak,” said Tripathi.
When contacted, the MP Board officials said that they were looking into the matter and would only comment after going through the inquiry report.
This is however, not the first incident of leak of question papers in the state.
According to a Dainik Bhaskar report, the intermediate question paper of English of MP Board leaked a week before the examination in Harda district of the state on 3 March 2019.
The district administration launched an inquiry and suspended two MP Board officials – Arti Jath and Arti Joshi.
On 10 March 2016, the mathematics question paper of Class X leaked and went viral on WhatsApp in Ujjain district. On inquiry, police booked three students of using unfair means in the examination, said a report by the Free Press Journal.
The incident occurred around 7.25 am whereas the paper chests could only be opened at 8.15 am. However, the examination was not cancelled.
