1. G-20 Osaka Summit: Modi, Trump Hear Each Other Out, Set Stage for More Talks
With a small piece of paper in hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke first and set out four priority issues he wanted to discuss with US President Donald Trump — Iran, 5G, bilateral ties and defence relationship. Trump picked out trade and 5G, even as he was effusive in his praise for Modi.
On Friday, the bilateral meeting between the two leaders went slightly beyond the allotted 40 minutes, with Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale telling reporters later that both sides “aired their concerns”, and agreed that their trade ministers, or representatives, will meet soon to sort out these issues.

2. 4 Killed as Rains Batter Mumbai on First Day
At least four persons, including a minor boy, were killed and two others injured in different incidents as monsoon made a grand entry in Mumbai and surroundings on Friday, hitting normal life with the usual woes of water-logging in many areas, delays in flights, road and train traffic.
In Goregaon suburb of north-west Mumbai, four persons of a family including a minor girl suffered electrocution from some live wires in the vicinity of their home in which two perished and two were injured.
The deceased are – Rajendra Yadav, 60 and Sanjay Yadav, 24, while the injured victims are Dipu Yadav, 24, and five-year old Asha Yadav, said the BMC Disaster Control.

3. Amit Shah Says One-Third of J&K Not With India, Blames Nehru
Even as the Lok Sabha on Friday, 28 June, gave its nod to extend President’s Rule in Jammu and Kashmir for another six months beginning 3 July, Union Home Minister Amit Shah asserted that assembly elections in the state will be held in a democratic, free and fair manner as soon as the Election Commission announces the dates.
Accepting that the people of Jammu & Kashmir do not trust the Central government, Shah hit out at the Congress and the then prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru saying one-third of Jammu and Kashmir is not with India.
“One-third of J&K is not with us, who is responsible for it? The development of the people of J&K is our top priority, they have faced a lot and deserve development more than others,” Shah said.

4. Pehlu Khan Was Lynched, Now He Is Chargesheeted by Congress Government
The Rajasthan Police have filed a chargesheet for cow smuggling against Pehlu Khan, the dairy farmer who was beaten to death two years ago by a mob of gau rakshaks in Alwar for transporting cattle, and his two sons.
The chargesheet also names the owner of the pick-up truck that was used for transporting the cattle on 1 April 2017, when the lynching took place near Behror.
The latest chargesheet, in which Pehlu Khan has been posthumously charged, was prepared on 30 December last year, days after the new Congress government came into power in Rajasthan, and was presented in the court of the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate in Behror on 29 May this year.

5. Congress Leaders Resign to Convince Rahul Gandhi to Stay
Friday was a day of resignations at the Congress with at least 100 leaders, big and small, sending in letters to the effect – aimed, in one part, to convince party president Rahul Gandhi to take back his resignation and, in another, to get other senior leaders to resign, setting the stage for a complete and radical overhaul of the party organisation.
Among those who tendered their resignations were party general secretary in-charge of MP Deepak Babaria, Goa Congress president Girish Chodhankar, Telangana working president Ponnam Prabhakar, Delhi working president Rajesh Lilothia, and Indian Youth Congress vice-president BV Srinivas. On Thursday night, Congress Rajya Sabha MP Vivek Tankha tweeted out his resignation.

6. Maoist Kill Three CRPF Men, One Girl in Chhattisgarh
Three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel died in an encounter with Maoist guerrillas that also killed a girl who was caught in the crossfire in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on Friday, the police said.
The gunbattle near Keshkutul village took place when a joint team of the CRPF’s 199th battalion and state police was out on an area domination patrol on motorcycles, according to deputy inspector general (DIG), anti- Naxal operations, Sunderaj P.
Two girls were caught in the crossfire. One of them, Jibbi Telam (14) died, while another girl, Renki Hemla (14), was injured, police said.

7. BJP Questions West Bengal Circular on Dining Halls in Muslim-Majority Schools
A circular issued by West Bengal’s Minority Affairs department on the construction of dining halls in state-run schools that have more than 70 percent Muslim students has triggered a political controversy in the State, with the Bharatiya Janata Party calling it “discrimination”.
Trinamool Congress chairperson and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was quick to defend the circular, saying that it was not aimed at “dividing students in any way” but only to pool in funds from different departments to create infrastructure for running mid-day meal programme in schools.

8. Another BJP Leader Assaults Government Official in MP
Two days after BJP MLA Akash Vijayvargiya thrashed a municipal corporation officer in Indore, a local leader from the party allegedly assaulted a government official here on Friday.
The official, Devratna Soni, who is the Satna Nagar Panchayat Chief Medical Officer (CMO), sustained injuries after he was allegedly beaten up by BJP panchayat president Ram Sushil Patel and others with sticks outside the ‘nagar parishad’ (city council) office, video footage showed.
Police said the two sides filed cases as Patel had also alleged that he was also beaten up.

9. India to Debut New Orange and Blue 'Away' Jersey Against England
The Indian team will debut its new orange and blue “away” jersey for the World Cup match against England at Edgbaston on Sunday.
Nike India, the official apparel sponsor of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), released pictures of the new kit on Friday. For India's penultimate league game on Sunday, the team will make a departure from their normal contemporary blue kit so that it won't clash with England's sky blue colour.
