6-Year-Old Attacked by Stray Dogs in Bhopal

Stray dogs attacked a 6-year old boy in Bhopal on Wednesday, 19 September, ANI reported. The victim is currently admitted in a hospital. Parents say,

“MCD is responsible for this. They get Rs 2 crores to take care of the street animals. It is their responsibility to take care of such things,” the parents told ANI.

Minor Raped in Bulandshahr

A minor girl was allegedly raped by a 18-year-old man in Bulandshahr, ANI reported.

“We have registered the case. The victim has been sent for medical tests. Further investigation is underway,” said R Ahmed, SSP Rural.

59% of All Terrorist Attacks in 2017 in 5 Asian Countries: Report

Almost 59 per cent of all terrorist attacks in 2017 took place in five Asian countries, including India and Pakistan, PTI reported, citing a US report.

The other three countries include Afghanistan, Iraq and the Philippines.

The total number of terrorist attacks worldwide last year decreased by 23 per cent. Similarly, the total deaths due to terrorist violence decreased by 27 per cent, according to the report.

Staff, Inmate Shot Dead in Bihar's Juvenile Correction Home

26-year-old staff Bijendra Kumar and 17-year-old inmate Saroj Kumar were shot dead allegedly by another inmate in a juvenile correctional home near Janata Chowk in Bihar’s Purnia on Wednesday. The accused and four other inmates fled the spot. An investigation is underway.

1 Drowned, 3 Missing in Lucknow During Ganesh Idol Immersion

One youth died and three went missing after they drowned in Gomti river in Lucknow during Ganesha idol immersion on Wednesday, ANI reported. Rescue operations are underway.

Bihar School Principal, Clerk Arrested for Raping Student for 9 Months

A principal and a clerk of a school in Phulwari Sharif have been arrested for allegedly raping a class 5 student for over a period of 9 months, during which she also got pregnant, ANI reported.

The duo also filmed their acts and blackmailed her over the period.

Medical examination of the victim will be conducted on Thursday. Further investigation is underway.

12 Indian-Americans in Race for US Congressional Elections

A record number of 12 Indian-Americans are in the fray for the November 6 mid-term Congressional elections in the United States, PTI reported.

Three among them - Hiral Tipirneni and Anita Malik from Arizona and Pramila Jayapal from Washington State - are women.

Along with Jayapal, three other Indian-Americans - Raja Krishnamoorthi from Illinois, Ro Khanna and Dr Ami Bera from California - are seeking re-elections this year. Bera, who was declared winner after recounting of votes in the last three elections, this time faces a tough opponent, Republican Andrew Grant.

Mumbai-Jaipur Flight Turned Back as Crew Forgets to Maintain Air Pressure

A Jet Airways Mumbai-Jaipur flight was turned back to Mumbai mid-air on Thursday as, during take-off, the crew forgot to select switch to maintain cabin pressure, ANI reported. 30 out of 166 passengers experienced nose and ear bleeding. Some also complained of headache. They are being treated at Mumbai airport.

Thane Man Arrested for Raping Minor Daughter

A 40-year-old man was arrested on Thursday in Thane for allegedly raping his teenaged daughter, PTI reported.

The accused and his wife separated seven years back. Since then, the 14-year-old girl was living with her father in the Kasarvadavli area of Thane city.

The girl alleged that she was raped repeatedly by her father in the last four years.

Man Throws Acid on Wife After a Quarrel in UP

A woman suffered severe burns after her husband threw acid on her following a quarrel in this western Uttar Pradesh district, PTI reported.

According to the police, accused Bablu Kumar (30), a resident of Faloda village in the Purkazi police station area, has been on the run since the incident Wednesday evening. Purkazi police station SHO Vijay Singh said a case has been registered based on a complaint filed by the woman's mother and a hunt is on for the accused.

The woman was admitted to the district hospital.

US Prepared to Negotiate With N Korea Immediately: Pompeo

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo Thursday said America was prepared to engage immediately in negotiations with North Korea to transform relations and to achieve the denuclearisation of Pyongyang by 2021, PTI reported.

His comments came after North Korean leader Kim Jong Un agreed to make a historic visit to South Korea soon and close a missile testing site in the presence of international inspectors in a meeting with President Moon Jae-in in Pyongyang on Wednesday.

The Supreme Court on Thursday extended by three months the deadline given to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to complete the probe in the Aircel-Maxis deal case, PTI reported.

Remote Controlled IED Recovered in Manipur

Assam Rifles jawans recovered a remote controlled improvised explosive device, allegedly planted by proscribed militant outfit PLA, from a road in Kamtong district in Manipur, PTI reported.

Weighing three kg, the IED was recovered from a road linking Kamtong village to Skipe village at around 5 pm on Wednesday.

The IED, supposedly planted by the banned Peoples' Liberation Army (PLA), was later defused.

2 Minor Girls Raped in Pune, 1 Dies

Two minor girls were allegedly raped by a man and a 17-year-old boy in Pune on Sunday and one of them died of injuries inflicted during the assault days later, PTI reported.

The two girls, both around 12 years' old and residents of the same locality, went to a temple near their home in Hinjawadi area Sunday afternoon.

The two accused, who also lived in the same locality, lured the girls by offering them chocolates. They then took the girls to an isolated area where they allegedly raped them.

2 Arrested for Raping Woman in Thane

Two persons were arrested for allegedly raping a 30-year-old married woman in Thane, PTI reported.

One of the accused, Rajesh Mhaskar (30), called the woman, who works as a labourer, out of her house at Khoni village in Bhiwandi area in the wee hours of Tuesday and allegedly raped her.

The other accused, Lala alias Balaram Kolhe (33), also arrived at the spot and attempted to rape her.

EC Orders Repolling in Punjab Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti Elections

The Election Commission has ordered re-polling for zila parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections in 28 polling booths across seven districts of Punjab that were held on Wednesday, ANI reported. Repolling will be held on Friday, 21 September.

Man Arrested for Molesting Manipur Student in Mumbai

A 26-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly molesting a student from Manipur while she was travelling in a local train in Mumbai, PTI reported.

The accused, Ayaz Sattar Qureshi, a resident of Mankhurd suburb, was nabbed from the Kurla railway station on Wednesday. The police managed to trace the accused with the help of his photograph clicked by the 22-year-old victim and analysing CCTV footages of various railway stations.

The US has praised India for its significant counter-terrorism actions and said Pakistan-based terror groups continued their terror attacks in the country, PTI reported.

Lucknow Metro Bags Coveted International Award

The Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) has become the first ever metro rail corporation from India to bag the International 'Royal Society For The Prevention Of Accidents' (RoSPA) Award, an official said.

Sanjay Mishra, Director (works and infrastructure), received the award on September 13, at a function held in Glasgow, UK.

LMRC has been given the Silver Award for its Phase 1A (North-South Corridor) in the Project/Infrastructure category for the year 2018.


Cyclone Alert for South Odisha and Coastal Andhra Pradesh

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued a cyclone alert for South Odisha and Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

In an official release at 6 pm, the IMD said there is a deep depression over west central Bay of Bengal which is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm with wind speed of 60-70 kmph in next 12 hours.

The IMD said the deep depression lay centred over west central Bay of Bengal about 290 km east-southeast of Kalingapatnam (Coastal Andhra Pradesh) and about 270 km southeast of Gopalpur (Odisha).

3 Reportedly Killed in Shooting in Maryland

The authorities said 3 people have been shot dead in northeast Maryland. Harford County Sheriff Jeffrey R. Gahler says there is no longer any threat at the site as the gun-person is in custody and is said to be in a critical condition.

At least four boy are feared to be dead due to drowning in a pond during Ganesh immersion in a village in Maharajpur, ANI reported.

44 Dead as Ferry Capsizes in Tanzania

At least 44 people died when after a passenger ferry capsized on Lake Victoria, a Tanzanian official said late Thursday, and the death toll was expected to rise when rescue efforts resumed at daybreak.

Thirty-seven people were rescued after the sinking Thursday afternoon, Mwanza regional commissioner John Mongella told The Associated Press.

Indigo Bus Catches Fire, Passengers Rescued

A bus belonging to IndiGo Airlines caught fire on Thursday, 21 September, at the Chennai airport here while ferrying passengers of a domestic in-bound evening flight, according to airport officials.

No one was injured in the incident as the blaze was put out immediately by Fire and Rescue Services personnel, they said. The bus caught fire as it was nearing the arrival point with about 50 passengers on board.

The authorities are looking into the incident.
