1. Rs 2.84 Crore of Unaccounted Cash Seized

In less than 12 hours, the Rachakonda police caught Rs 2.84 crore of unaccounted cash belonging to a city-based businessman. The cash was caught on Tuesday night and on Wednesday morning, has been handed over to the IT department.

Police said, during the vehicle checking at a check post in the Dilsukhnagar area, an auto that was being driven by one Narasimha was stopped. The passenger, who was identified as Sandeep, had a bag. Upon inspection, the police discovered a large amount of cash, for which Sandeep failed to produce required documents and the cash was seized.

2. Two Convicted for Murder of Advocate

Two persons who were arrested for murdering an advocate and setting his body ablaze over a land dispute were convicted by the LB Nagar court on Wednesday. The court has directed the prime accused to undergo life imprisonment while the other has been imprisoned for a period of one year.

Avula Uday Kumar’s murder took place on 25 June 2016 following a dispute over a land of five acres.

3. Varavara Rao’s Wife Appeals to CJI for His Release

Revolutionary poet Varavara Rao’s wife, P Hemalata has appealed to the Chief Justice of India (CJI) to initiate the process to release her husband who was implicated in a criminal conspiracy case and sent to Yerwada Central Prison, Pune.

In an open letter to the CJI, Ms Hemalatha said Mr Rao (79) was shown as an accused along with others in Bhima Koregaon violence case which was later extended to criminal conspiracy and then to the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act. “While he has nothing to do with the initial Bhima Koregaon violence, I strongly suspect my husband is implicated in the case just to silence his voice,” she said.

4. Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer, Secretary Get HC Notice in IT Grids Case

The Telangana High Court on Wednesday issued notices to the chief electoral officer of Andhra Pradesh, the secretary of the Andhra Pradesh state general administrative department, the Unique Identification Authority of India represented by its chief executive officer, New Delhi, and the registrar, Enrolling Agency, Andhra Pradesh under the Aadhaar Act.

Justice Dr Shameem Akther was dealing with the two criminal petitions filed by director, IT Grids, D. Ashok, seeking a stay on both the FIRs registered against him in Madhapur and Sanjeev Reddy Nagar police stations by the Telangana police on the complaints of Mr Lokeshwar Reddy and Mr Dasaratharami Reddy on the allegations of the data breach.

5. Former Hyderabad Minister Quits Congress

Former TPCC OBC cell chairman and former Minister J Chittaranjan Das has levelled serious allegations against AICC General Secretary and Telangana Congress affairs in-charge R.C. Khuntia and AICC secretary and Congress candidate for Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency Madhu Yashki Goud.

In a letter to UPA chief Sonia Gandhi on 14 March 2019, Mr Chittaranjan Das alleged that Mr Khuntia and Mr Madhu Yashki have become billionaires by trafficking women to the US for flesh trade and that they sold 75 of Assembly tickets in the name of Congress chief Rahul Gandhi to candidates, all of whom lost the elections.
