1. Six Students End up in ICU After Breakfast at School
Six children of a Telangana Minorities Residential School for girls at Shahalibanda ended up in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a private hospital due to food poisoning, after spoilt food was served to them in the school on Thursday. As many as 59 other children of the school were kept under observation at the hospital.

2. Students Protest Climate Inaction
Over 524 students in the city skipped school and protested at the KBR Park to join the global movement against climate change. Inspired by Sweden’s Greta Thunberg, a 16-year-old climate activist who has been nominated for the Nobel peace prize, several students in the city questioned the issues pertaining to the climate change and demanded to save the trees, lakes, and rocks of Hyderabad.
Students demonstrated using slogans and eco-friendly posters. “I want to raise my voice today because I don’t want to witness a future where my classmates and I have to sit in a class with oxygen cylinders. The environment needs urgent attention,” said Manish Bugalia, a seventh grade student.

3. No Official Will Be Exempted From Poll Duty
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation commissioner M. Dana Kishore issued instructions for of stringent action if they do not attend special elections training programme on March 17 and March 18.
Mr Kishore said that special training programme will be held at eight centres in the city where about 10,000 polling officers and assistant polling officers would attend. He clarified that no official will be exempted from poll duties and even though they approach him to relive them on personal and health grounds.

4. 26 Teams to Collect Property Tax
Exempting four circles in the Old City, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has constituted 26 special teams to collect the targeted Rs 400 crore in property tax. The GHMC commissioner M Dana Kishore has appointed 26 supervisory officers to collect property tax from top defaulters by March 31.
Surprisingly, the corporation has handed over the job to 22 officers of the engineering wing and not to the revenue wing, as the revenue wing is busy with the elections. Six of these officers are from the town planning wing. According to revenue wing officials, Charminar, Santoshnagar, Chandrayangutta, and Falaknuma circles were exempted, though they contribute to more than Rs 100 crore in property tax. A special drive will be taken up after the end of the current financial year and special focus will be laid on the zone in July and August.

5. Telangana Crosses 40°C First Time This Season
The mercury crossed the 40ºC mark in the state for the first time this season according to the TS Development Planning Society.
Gollapalle in Jagtial recorded 40.3ºC and was the warmest place in the state followed by Jammikunta (Karimnagar), Ramagundam (Pedda-palli), Pembi (Nirmal) at 40.2ºC. Mustabad in Rajanna-Siricilla district, Dondapadu (Suryapet), Jaina (Jagtial), Kaddam Peddur (Nirmal) and Khanapur (Nirmal) recorded 40.1ºC and Koratpalle (Nizamabad) 40ºC.
