1. T'Gana Officer Flushes Notes Down Toilet After Being Caught Taking Bribe

A law officer tore the currency notes and flushed them down the toilet to wipe out evidence after officials of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught him taking a bribe, IANS reported. Shakeel Ansari is the Assistant Public Prosecutor who works at the Junior First Class Magistrate’s (JFCM) court in Shadnagar town here.

Ansari, demanded Rs 8,000 from Prabhakar Reddy for dropping his mother’s name from the case. Following which, Reddy lodged a complaint with the anti-graft agency, that laid a trap to catch the officer.

2. Glare on Poll-Duty Truancy

Disciplinary action will be initiated against police constables who do not turn up for Lok Sabha election duty as per government order, said Additional DGP (Law and Order), Jitender on Monday.

Addressing mediapersons, he said constables who went on leave for preparation of sub-inspector recruitment exam have been identified and recalled for election duty. Notices would be served to truant constables, he said, adding, “During elections, every police officer in the State is posted on deputation to the Election Commission of India.”

3. Andhra Pradesh, Telangana to Split Movable Assets of High Court

An amicable settlement was reached between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments on Monday regarding division of movable assets belonging to the erstwhile Hyderabad High Court which was common to both the states till Dec 31, 2018. It was decided to divide the movable assets or their value as per the population ratio i.e. 58 per cent for AP and 42 percent for Telangana.

A meeting was held here on Monday on the issue of apportionment of the movable assets belonging to the Hyderabad High Court. AP Chief Secretary AC Punetha, Telangana Chief Secretary SK Joshi, registrar generals of AP and Telangana High Courts and the law secretaries of both the states attended the meeting.

4. Over 60% of Kids in Telangana Found to Be Anaemic

Anaemia continues to haunt the state of Telangana with at least 14 of the 17 constituencies being more anaemic than the rest of the country. The average anaemia prevalence was pegged at 56.8 percent of the total population of children in India, however in Telangana at least 60-70 percent of the children being anaemic.

This was found in the study by Prof S V Subramanian, and research associate Rockli Kim of the Harvard University, whose study helped in tracking how each of the 543 constituencies and their MPs fared in terms of prevalence of malnutrition among children.

5. Telangana Files Fresh Objection on Polavaram

The Telangana state government on Tuesday raised a new objection against the Polavaram project before the Supreme Court. The state government has asked the apex court to review the environmental clearance accorded to the project.

The state government has filed the additional affidavit before the Supreme Court in this regard in a petition filed by politician Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy.
