1. Quack Lynched After Woman, Minor Allege Rape in Assam
A mob, largely comprising women, lynched a quack at a remote village in Assam’s West Karbi Anglong district on Thursday, 4 July, after a 22-year-old woman and her 16-year-old relative claimed he raped them under the pretext of conducting a puja on them, police said Friday.
West Karbi Anglong SP said the accused, who hailed from the bordering district of Hojai, visited the house where the two women lived to “cure” the blindness of a third woman living there.
The officer said that the police rescued the accused as soon as they received information of the mob assault on him. “He was taken to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Two cases, one for the murder of the accused and the second, regarding the alleged rapes have been registered,” the SP said.

2. Uttar Pradesh: Three Men Detained for Gangrape of Nurse, Says Police
A 30-year-old nurse was allegedly gang raped and assaulted by four persons in a village hospital in Amroha district in the early hours of Friday, 5 July. Even as three people were detained in connection with the alleged incident, police said no arrests had been made yet as they were probing the veracity of the woman’s allegations.
The woman told the police that the accused, including a 60-year-old man, assaulted her with a broomstick in her private parts when she resisted their rape attempt. Three men were detained, while a search was on for a fourth. Deputy SP Ajay Kumar said based on the statements of the woman, an FIR under IPC section 376 D (gangrape) was filed.

3. Delhi: Six-Year-Old Battles for Life After Sexual Assault
In another incident of a brutal sexual assault on a child, a six-year-old girl was left battling for her life after being allegedly targeted by a 24-year-old man in a village near Dwarka on Tuesday, 2 July. The accused, Mohammad Nanhe, had taken the girl with him to an isolated spot outside the village and raped her.
the man took her to a road outside the village and then to an empty plot covered with thick vegetation.
A local spotted her, bleeding, crying and losing consciousness, and took her to a nearby shop to call a PCR.
Police said the accused has been sent to judicial custody and it is being probed whether he is a repeat offender. A case under Section 376 of IPC (rape) and Section 6 of POCSO has been registered at Dwarka Sector 23 police station.

4. Mumbai: Minor Girl, Pushed From 8th Floor by 15-Yr-Old Boy, Dies
A 13-year-old girl, who was allegedly pushed from the eighth floor of a building in Goregaon (East) last week by a juvenile for rejecting his advances, died on Friday, 5 July, after suffering severe head injuries.
Vinay Rathod, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone XII), said that the 15-year-old boy, who is under detention, and his parents, who have been arrested, have now also been booked for murder. “The girl passed away on Friday afternoon,” said Rathod. She was admitted to Hiranandani Hospital in Powai last Saturday, when the juvenile allegedly pushed her from the eighth floor refuge area of the building.

5. Aligarh: Two Arrested for Thrashing Muslim Man for Reading Bhagavad Gita
The Aligarh police on Friday arrested two Muslim men for thrashing a man from their own community for reading the Bhagavad Gita in his house in Shahjamal area of Aligarh Wednesday, 3 July.
Station house officer of Delhi gate police station, Indresh Pal Singh, said that both accused, Samir and Zakir, were produced in the court on Friday and were remanded to judicial custody.

6. 29-Year-Old UP Woman Shot Dead, Police Suspect ‘Honour’ Killing
In a suspected case of ‘honour’ killing, a 28-year-old woman was shot dead at a village in Uttar Pradesh's Gautam Buddh Nagar district Friday, 5 July, allegedly by her family members, police said.
Nisha was shot dead around 1 am at Dastampur village in Jewar area of the district, with the police registering a murder case against seven people of her family including her own father, an official said.
"Nisha had got married to Sunil (30) in June 2018. Her husband belongs to a nearby village and her family was not aware of their marriage until around five months ago," a police spokesperson said.

7. Journalist Booked for Sexually Harassing Domestic Help in Gurugram
A 53-year-old senior journalist with a national daily was booked for allegedly sexually harassing his 25-year-old domestic help in DLF Phase-3 on Thursday, the police said on Friday. No arrest has been made so far.
The police received a complaint from the woman on Thursday afternoon after which a case was registered under section 354A (sexual harassment) at DLF Phase 3 police station.
Assistant commissioner of police (DLF) Karan Goel said the incident took place around 1am on Thursday. In her statement to the police, the woman alleged she was sexually harassed by her employer, for whom she has been working as a full-time help for the past four years.

8. Man Booked for Sexually Assaulting Pune Woman
A 30-year-old man was booked by Pimpri-Chinchwad police on Wednesday, 3 July, for sexually assaulting a woman who met him through a matrimonial website.
The man has been identified as Rahul Prakash Das, 30, a resident of Dange chowk area of Thergaon. He is a native of Paranda area of Usmanabad, according to the police.
In her complaint, the 27-year-old victim submitted that she met Das on a called 'Navri Mile Navryala'. The two matched in May 2018 and met afterwards.
According to the complainant, the two decided to get married, after which the man allegedly forced her to have sexual intercourse with him. The man clicked pictures of them in illicit poses and threatened to share them on social media. He also threatened to send the pictures to the complainant's parents and relatives.

9. Man Stabs Friend to Death in Kalyan, Arrested
A 26-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her friend in Kalyan’s APMC market in broad daylight, said Kalyan’s Bazarpeth police. The police said they detected the case and arrested the accused in just one hour.
According to the Bazarpeth police in Kalyan, they received a call about a woman, Sanam Sachin Karotiya, being stabbed by a man several times.
The woman was rushed to the nearby Bai Rukhmini Bai hospital where she was declared dead.
