1. Gangster Ravi Pujari Held in Senegal: Sources
Gangster Ravi Pujari, on the run for the last 15 years, has been arrested in Senegal in West Africa, a source in the security establishment said on Friday, 1 February.
Security agencies got clues about his whereabouts following the arrest of one of his close associates in Mumbai recently, the source added. Pujari, who allegedly ran an extortion syndicate targeting mainly builders in Mumbai, was held from a hotel in Dakar, the capital of Senegal, on 22 January, a senior official told PTI on the condition of anonymity.

2. Former BSP MLA Held in 2015 Murder Case, Wife Still on Run
Barabanki police on Thursday, 31 January, night arrested former BSP MLA Vijay Kumar (45) in connection with the death of National Informatics Centre (NIC) engineer Shikhar Srivastava, whose body was found in January, 2015. Vijay Kumar had won the 2012 Assembly election from Bansgaon in Gorakhpur.
The MLA’s wife Mridula Anand, who is the District Inspector of Schools (DIOS) in Gonda, is also an accused in the case and is on the run, police said.

3. ACB Nabs Ex-Police Inspector in DA Case
A team of anti-corruption bureau (ACB) officials from Meerut arrested a retired police inspector from his residence in Ghaziabad, in connection with a disproportionate assets case, police said.
Superintendent of Police (city) Shlok Kumar said a team headed by Inspector Yatendra Sharma arrived in Ghaziabad and sought the help of local police to arrest retired inspector Puran Singh Mehra.

4. 7-Year-Old Murder Case Solved with Lawyer’s Arrest
In December 2011, Model Town resident Kiran was fighting a court case when she went missing. Seven years on, police claim her lawyer is the one who allegedly strangulated her with a leather belt, after striking a deal with her landlord.
Advocate Virender Kumar (44), practising in Tis Hazari court since 2003, is alleged to have conspired with a sweeper in the Delhi Jal Board, Prithvi Singh (59), and a rickshaw puller, Kamlesh (28), to murder Kiran after they were given Rs 30 lakh by her landlord. According to police, the landlord wanted her to vacate the rented house.

5. Doctor Arrested for Raping Minor Patient in Delhi
A doctor has been arrested for allegedly raping a minor patient in outer Delhi's Sultanpuri area, police said on Friday, 1 February.
The accused has been identified as Joginder Singh, a resident of Rohini. According to the police, the alleged rape took place on Wednesday morning, 30 January, when the girl had gone to the doctor's clinic for treatment.

6. Man Gets Three Years in Jail for Stalking Class 9 Girl
A 22-year-old man was on Friday, 1 February, sentenced to three years in jail for stalking a Class IX student in 2015 to the extent that she had to drop out of school.
A resident of Mumbai, the accused was found guilty of offences including sexual harassment, stalking, house-trespassing, criminal intimidation and other sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

7. Man, Girlfriend Held for Murdering Wife, 3-Year-Old Daughter
A day after a 30-year-old woman and her 3-year-old daughter were found dead in their Mahim home, Shahu Nagar police arrested the woman’s husband and his girlfriend on Friday for murder. Ilyas Sayed, 38, and Afreen Sayed, 22, will be produced before a local court on Saturday, 2 February.

8. 3 Men Kidnap, Gang Rape Minor Near Rohtak Railway Station
A 7-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped from near Rohtak Railway station in Haryana and then raped by three men, police said on Friday, 1 February.
The profusely-bleeding girl was then left at the site by perpetrators of the crime, they said. She was gang raped near the railway washing line in Rohtak, police said, quoting an FIR lodged in the case on Friday.
