1. Man Strangulates Boy for Watching TV in His Room

A 20-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing a boy on the premises of a private wood-cutting mill near Lotus Garden in Gadoli Khurd on Pataudi Road near Sector 37. The police said the accused was angry with the victim as he allegedly trespassed into his room to watch television.

According to the police, the incident took place at 1.30 am on Sunday when the deceased, Rahul Khan, (aged 14 or 15 according to the FIR), who had come to stay with his father at his workplace, was asleep. The police said the accused, Uday Mandal, broke the grille of the room where the boy was sleeping, using a steel rod, and allegedly smothered him using a pillow and a towel.

2. 15-Year-Old Held for Molesting Class 8 Student in Greater Noida

A 15-year-old youth was apprehended on Sunday for allegedly harassing a class 8 student in a village under Bisrakh police station area. Police registered a case against the suspect for molestation and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Manoj Kumar Pathak, station house officer, Bisrakh police station, said that the girl and the suspect are neighbours. Their families had some issues. The girl has accused the suspect of passing lewd comments against her,” Pathak said.

Police said the girl got scared allegedly by the repeated threats made by the suspect and stopped going to school. Pathak said a few days ago, the girl dialled child helpline number (1098) and narrated her ordeal.

3. Gang Responsible for 39 Robberies in Noida Nabbed

The Noida police nabbed three men allegedly associated with at least 39 cases of robberies in the district executed using stolen cars after a brief encounter around 12am on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. The police also arrested two jewellers who would allegedly purchase the stolen items from the suspects and sell them.

At least five cars, weapons, jewellery items and mobile phones, among some other items, were recovered.

According to the police, two of the suspects and a police officer were injured in the encounter. While the officer is stable, the suspects are said to be critical. The police said that the modus operandi of the three suspects, who have been on wanted lists since 2015, was to allegedly stop passersby and ask for directions, and then rob them at gunpoint.

4. Man Stabbed to Death by Unidentified Trio in Mumbai's Ghatkopar

A 40-year-old-man was stabbed to death by three unidentified people in suburban Ghatkopar, police said Monday.

The incident took place near Jagruti Nagar metro rail station in Ghatkopar at around 11.30 am, an official said.

"Babloo Dubey alias Choti was stabbed by three unidentified persons who then fled the spot. He was rushed to a nearby civic-run hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival," he said.

5. UP Teen Arrested for Stealing Money From Temple to Buy Phone

A 16-year-old boy was arrested on Sunday in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district for allegedly stealing money from a temple's donation box to buy a phone.

The boy had stolen the money from the donation box at a Hanuman temple in Thanabhawan town in Shamli, the police said.

The boy told the police that he wanted to use the money to buy an Android phone, Station House Officer Sandeep Balyan said.

6. Four Nigerians Held in Mumbai, Cocaine Worth Rs 2.4 L Seized

A month after a police sub-inspector was injured while apprehending foreign drug peddlers, the Anti-Narcotics Cell nabbed four Nigerian nationals from Aarey Colony and seized cocaine, worth Rs 2.4 lakh, from them.

According to police, a team tried nabbing two Nigerian nationals near Emerald Club in Aarey Colony on 14 April. In the struggle, one of the suspects assaulted a sub-inspector. While the police managed to apprehend one man, the other fled.

On Monday morning, the ANC received information that four Nigerian nationals were travelling in a taxi on Aarey Road and intercepted the vehicle. An ANC official said adequate precautions were taken this time and officials from different units were involved.

7. Priest Held for ‘Sexual Assault’ of 5 Men in Thane

Police have arrested a priest for allegedly sexually assaulting five men from Thane on the pretext of solving their family problems.

According to the police, the matter came to light when a 32-year-old man lodged a complaint against the priest.

Police said the case was registered last week. In his statement, the complainant said he had been visiting a temple since 2006, where he met the priest. Police said in 2009, the priest discouraged the man from marrying a woman he was in a relationship with and told him that she will not be able to conceive.

8. Rejected by Teen, Man Barges Into Home, Kills Her

Two days after an 18-year-old girl was found murdered at her home in Faridabad, police have arrested a second-year college student from her neighbourhood for the crime.

According to police, the incident took place Friday afternoon when the teenager was alone at home. She had just cleared her Class XII examinations and was preparing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).

Her parents, who are teachers at a government school, were at work at the time of the incident, and her younger brother, a Class XII student, was in school. The latter returned home around 2 pm to find her battered body in a pool of blood.

9. Shooter Who Killed Politician in Road-Rage Fallout Arrested

On January 4, the body of a local politician was found dumped in Greater Noida. Four months on, Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested an alleged shooter of a Uttar Pradesh-based gang who has claimed that the murder was a result of a road rage incident.

The arrested man, Sunil Bhati alias Ropi (28), belongs to Dadri in Gautam Budh Nagar. He revealed that his associate, Vivek, had got into a fight with the victim, Dharmender, over giving way in Dadri. After being assaulted by Dharmender, a local politician and muscleman, Vivek called Ropi to take revenge.
