1. 3 More Held for Alwar Gang Rape Case, Protests Across Rajasthan

The Rajasthan police have arrested the remaining three accused in the 26 April gang rape of a 19-year-old woman in Alwar, inspector general of police (Jaipur range) S Sengathir said on Thursday.

Five men had allegedly raped the woman in presence of her husband for two hours, filmed the crime, and later circulated its video on social media. Sengathir identified the three as Chhote Lal Gurjar, Mahesh Gurjar and Hansraj Gurjar. He said Mahesh Gurjar was arrested from Jaipur district’s Shahpura on Wednesday and Hansraj Gurjar from Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura on Thursday. It was immediately unclear where the third accused was arrested from.

2. Gurgaon Student Murder Case: Accused Is 18, Might Be Shifted to Special Home

Almost six months after he was sent to an observation home in Faridabad in 2017, the teenager accused of allegedly murdering a seven-year-old child inside the bathroom of a private school in Gurgaon may be moved out of the establishment.

This comes after a district court Thursday upheld the Juvenile Justice Board’s April order, that had directed to move him to a Special Home in Karnal as he had crossed the age of 18.

3. Delhi: 101-Year-Old Man, His Wife Beaten up at Home, Robbed in Mayur Vihar Phase 1

An elderly couple was attacked, allegedly by four burglars, at their East Delhi home in the early hours of Thursday. According to police, Vishin (101) and Poonam Dhanrajani (96), residents of Mayur Vihar I, were fast asleep when the burglars allegedly broke open the front door of their house and beat up Vishin with an iron rod.

Police have registered a case under IPC sections 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery), 397 (robbery with attempt to cause hurt), 458 (house-breaking by night after preparation for hurt) and 380 (committing theft in house) at Mayur Vihar police station.

4. 3 Days Before Wedding, Man Held for Killing Partner in Jan

It was 28-year-old Santosh Kumar Kushwah’s wedding the coming Sunday and it was to be held in Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich. Thursday morning, however, a Delhi Police team arrived at Kushwah’s house in his native village and arrested him for allegedly murdering his ‘live-in-partner’ in north Delhi’s Sabzi Mandi and transferring ₹5 lakh from her account to his – in January this year.

Two days ago, Kushwah’s neighbours noticed a foul odour from his one-room house in Sabzi Mandi, close to Ghantaghar. They found the house locked and alerted the landlord.

5. Punjab: Family Alleges Youth Died in Police Custody, Four Cops Among 10 Booked for Murder

A 20-year-old youth reportedly died in police custody at Issru village in Punjab after he was detained for allegedly eloping with a girl. An FIR has been registered against 10 persons, including four policemen, in connection with the case.

The incident came to light when Gurwinder Singh alias Goldy’s body was recovered from a field near a police post in Issru. Family members of the deceased alleged that he was beaten to death by Khanna police at the behest of the girl’s family.

6. In Pune Hate Crime, Man Shot by Bride’s Relatives, Critical

A 20-year-old man was battling for his life in Pune on Thursday with multiple gunshot wounds a day after he was fired upon allegedly for marrying a woman from a different caste against her family’s wishes a year back, a police officer said.

Tushar Prakash Pisal was shot in his stomach, chest, and neck and his condition was said to be critical. Pisal belongs to the Maratha caste, while his wife, Vidya, 25, is from Shimpi community that comes under the Other Backward Class category.

7. Out on Bail, Man Stalks Complainant, Fresh FIR Filed

A Shiv Puri colony resident, who was earlier sent to jail for abusing, molesting and threatening a 29-year-old woman and then released on bail, was arrested again on Wednesday for allegedly stalking the same woman.

A fresh case has been registered against him.

The woman told police that she had known Rahul Arora for the past six years.

8. Man Gets Death Sentence for Killing Couple by Pouring Acid on Them

A 28-year-old man was Thursday awarded death sentence by the district court here for killing a married couple by pouring acid on them.

District and Sessions Judge R N Majgaonkar also ordered compensation in accordance to a Maharashtra government scheme for acid attack victims for the couple's orphaned children, aged five and eight years.

The convict, Guddu Krish Yadav, was a worker at a chemical factory in Boisar MIDC near here in 2015 when the incident took place.

9. Mumbai: 2 Held for Using Fake Number Plate on Truck

Two men were arrested on Thursday for allegedly using a fake number plate on a pickup. One of the accused had bought the truck but had not paid in full for it, as a result of which, the truck was yet to be registered, police said.

Naushad Khan and Jayprakash Jaiswal were arrested by the Thane Crime Branch unit I from near Kalwa. “The owner, Jaiswal, had not got the registration number of the truck transferred in his name and was thus using a fake number plate,” a senior officer said.
