1.Student and Mentally-Unstable Woman Raped in 2 Districts, Say Police

Two separate cases of rape were registered in two districts of Gujarat on Monday night (18 November).

According to police, the first incident was registered in Kadi police station of Mehsana when a mentally unstable 24-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a man in a village under Jotana taluka of Mehsana on Monday evening. The accused has been identified as Vikramsinh Jhala.

The second incident was registered in Vidya Nagar area of Anand district when a 19-year-old woman was allegedly abducted in a car and raped by a man on 16 November. According to police, an FIR was registered Monday night after the victim approached the police.

2. NCLT Orders to Restore Delisted Surat-Based Diamond Firm

A division bench of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) Ahmedabad has directed the Registrar of Companies (RoC) Gujarat to restore a Surat-based diamond company, which was delisted over insolvency proceedings, on its registry.

According to the appeal filed by Vinod Tarachand Agrawal, liquidator of JR Diamonds Pvt Ltd, the company came to know in October 2018 from the web portal of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) that its name was struck off on 6 August, 2018.

The insolvency proceedings commenced on February 2018 and Agrawal submitted before the tribunal that at the time of the company’s deregistration from RoC, payment recovery worth Rs 4.5 crore from another company — Peacock Jewellery — was due.

3. Man Killed, Brother Injured in Clash at Wedding

A 19-year-old was stabbed to death and his brother severely injured following an argument over dancing at a wedding in Rander here, police said on Tuesday, 19 November.

Vijay Borkar and his brother Ravi (24) were allegedly attacked by four unidentified men at a friend's sister's wedding on Monday night, an official from Rander police station in Gujarat's Surat city said.

"While Vijay was stabbed in the chest, Ravi was stabbed in the leg, after the accused objected to them dancing," the official said. The duo was rushed to a nearby hospital where Vijay succumbed to his injuries and his brother is undergoing treatment, he added.

4. Gandhi Sankalp Yatra Ends: Modi Emulating Mahatma, Say Rupani, Tomar

Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Tuesday, 19 November said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was emulating Mahatma Gandhi while also trying to make his leadership ‘Ajatshatru’ (a person who does not have an enemy) and to establish Ram Rajya in India.

The leaders were addressing a gathering of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad at the concluding event of Gandhi Sankalp Yatra in Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency.

As part of 150th birth anniversary of Gandhi, Modi had appealed to all the Lok Sabha members to organise Gandhi Sankalp Yatra in their respective constituencies and spread Gandhian ideology.

Following this, Gujarat BJP organised the Yatra in Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency for three days. Union Home Minister Amit Shah represents Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency, but due to his busy schedule, he could not attend the yatra that was led by Gujarat BJP president Jitu Vaghani.

5. Alliance Air Launches Ahmedabad-Kandla Flight Under UDAN

Alliance Air, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Air India, on Monday, 18 November launched its first direct flight between Ahmedabad and the port town of Kandla in Gujarat.

The five days a week Ahmedabad-Kandla service is the 228th route covered under the UDAN-RCS scheme, a central government initiative that seeks to enhance regional connectivity and make air travel affordable to the masses.

The Ahmedabad-Kandla flight will operate from Monday to Friday under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS), the Ministry of Civil Aviation said in a release on Tuesday, 19 November.

The inaugural flight was flagged off from the Ahmedabad airport with 50 passengers, it said.

"Under the UDAN scheme, there has been a commendable uptick of 242 per cent in air traffic on RCS routes which has efficiently strengthened the overall aviation network while providing the services at a modest market-discovered price to the common man, said Rajeev Jain, Additional Director General of PIB and spokesperson for the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
