1. Leopard Enters Court Building, Gets Captured
A leopard took shelter in a court building in Chotila town in Gujarat's Surendranagar district on Friday, causing panic. The animal was captured before it could hurt anyone. It was first spotted hiding in an abandoned house next to the magistrate's court.
"When we tried to catch the leopard, it jumped over the common wall and entered into court premises. Seeing so many people around, it then jumped into a room through its window," he said. "Around ten court staff were in the room, who made a quick exit and bolted the door from outside. We then entered the room and caught the leopard using a tranquiliser gun," the officer said.
The leopard is "sub-adult", around two years old, he said. "The nearby forest is home to some leopards. It might have lost its way and entered the town," Zala said.

2. Priest Accused of Sodomy in Ahmedabad
In the wee hours of Friday morning a 24-year-old man filed a complaint with Kalupur Police Station accusing a 33-year-old priest, affiliated with a certain religious sect, of sodomy. According to the complainant, he was sexually assaulted by Vishweswaroop Swami who lives at a temple of the sect in Kalupur.
According to the FIR, the complainant was allotted a room to read in the temple for a fortnight. On Thursday night, Vishweswaroop entered the complainant's room and demanded that he cover the former’s car. When the complainant refused to do so, the priest stroked his chest and proceeded to sexually assault him.
He has alleged that the priest pulled off his trousers and tried to have unnatural sex with him. The priest even threatened the youth and bragged that no one could harm him. Vishweswaroop fled the temple before Kalupur Police could nab him.

3. Maulvi Gets Life Term for Raping 7-Yr-Old Minor Girl
A special POCSO Court held a maulvi guilty of raping a seven-year-old minor and sentenced him to prison for life. The convict, Muzaffar Hussain Shaikh (27), taught religious texts to children in a Madrassa attached to Masjid-e-Yousuf in Isanpur area of Ahmedabad.
On the morning of 27 April 2017, Shaikh took the rape survivor to the washroom where forced her to have oral sex and then raped her. He was prosecuted before a special court and the government lawyer examined 23 witnesses and placed many documentary evidences as well.
The court has observed that leniency cannot be shown to the convict for the heinous crime that he committed and required rigorous punishment.

4. SOG Nabs Man Who Just Won’t Stop Bootlegging
Notorious bootlegger Akbarali alias Zuberali Alias Kalu Saiyed (34), who is also a resident of Paldi in Ahmedabad was arrested by the Special Operations Group (SOG). According to police, Saiyed who lives in the posh Park Regency Society, has been arrested 25 times by various law enforcement agencies and police stations for selling booze illegally.
He was also wanted in atleast 14 other cases of prohibition registered at Bagodara, Danilimda, Bavla, Shaherkotda, Sarkhej, Khokhra, Kathlal and Anand Rural Police Stations. He was arrested on the heels of the suspension of a police inspector after the DGP’s Vigilance Squad raided Saiyed’s liquor den in Bagodara.
According to souces in the SOG, Saiyed has a strong network in several states such as Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Maharashtra.

5. Rupani Suspends Export of Livestock from Guj Ports
Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Friday suspended livestock exports with immediate effect from Tuna-Kandla Port. The suspension will be enforced until exporters meet the guidelines issued by the Union Government and the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) for export of live animals.
Exports of all livestock from Gujarat will be stopped until quarantine stations and certificates in accordance with new guidelines are made available. The CM also instructed the police department to ensure stringent implementation of ‘Transport of Animal Rules 1978’ and the ‘Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960.’
Earlier in August this year, for the first very first time, around 10,000 sheep and goats were barred from export through the port to Gulf Countries.
