1. Gujarat Announces Rs 700 Crore Relief Package for Rain-Hit Farmers
The Gujarat government on Wednesday,13 November, announced a relief package of Rs 700 crore for the farmers in the state, whose crops have been damaged due to excess rains this year.
Talking to reporters, Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel said the move would benefit over four lakh farmers in the state. Farmers in Gujarat witnessed damage to their crops due to excess rains that lashed the state even after the monsoon season officially ended.
"The cabinet meeting held today decided to declare a relief package for farmers who have faced crop losses due to excess rains in the last week of October and early part of November," Patel said.

2. Guj Assembly Session Begins on 9 Dec
A three-day session of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly will be held between 9 and 12 December , a minister said on Wednesday, 13 November. A resolution regarding the Constitution Day, celebrated on 26 November, will be passed during the sitting.
Due to Lok Sabha elections held in April-May this year, the regular Budget session of the state Assembly was held in July instead of February which is the convention.
"Since it's mandatory to call the Assembly session within six months, the state government has decided to call a three-day-long session from 9 December," Minister of State for Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Pradeepsinh Jadeja said in Gandhinagar.
The decision to call the session was taken by Chief Minister Vijay Rupani during cabinet meeting held earlier in the day, Jadeja said.

3. GPCB Notice to Ankleshwar NAA After Polluted Water Kills Fish
The Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) on Wednesday, 13 November, said it has issued a notice to the Notified Area Authority (NAA) of Ankleshwar in Bharuch district of south Gujarat following the death of thousands of fish in Amravati river due to contaminated water.
The GPCB also issued a notice to Narmada Clean Tech (NCT), a subsidiary of Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) formed under a PPP model to treat the industrial effluents, after polluted water entered agricultural land "due to breach in discharge pipeline".
A fact-finding team of the GPCB and the District Fisheries Department found that the fish died after industrial effluents from a pumping station in Ankleshwar GIDC mixed with the river water following heavy rains on 7 November, the GPCB said in a media statement.
"The regional office of the GPCB, Ankleshwar issued a notice to the NAA, Ankleshwar in this regard and directed it to take immediate steps," it said.

4. School Trustee’s Son Held for Running Illegal Call Centre From Its Premises
The Cyber Crime Cell arrested six persons, including the son of trustee and director of a school in Ahmedabad, for allegedly running an illegal call centre from the school premises, targeting US citizens by impersonating as officers from the social security administration department.
According to police, the main accused, Viraj Desai, son of late Ira Desai, trustee of Ankur School in Paldi of Ahmedabad, used one of the rooms on the school premises to run an illegal call centre during night hours. Ankur is among Ahmedabad’s oldest schools affiliated to the CBSE and Gujarat State Education boards.
“We got information on Tuesday night (12 September) that Viraj Desai, son of Ira Desai, the trustee of Ankur School in Paldi, was running an illegal call centre from the school compound using professional callers to target US-based citizens,” read the FIR filed by the Cyber Crime Cell Division.

5. Five Persons Die in Two Road Accidents in Gujarat
Five persons were killed in two separate accidents in Mahisagar and Panchmahal districts Tuesday, 12 November.
In the first incident, three persons died when a speeding Chevrolet Tavera collided with a motorcycle in Mahisagar district around 9.30 pm on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Vijay Bariya (25), Darshan (22) and Shailesh (22), natives of Chapri village under Balasinor Taluka of Mahisagar. “A speeding Tavera collided with a motorcycle on which the three deceased were travelling near Balasinor Mahadev Temple. We have lodged a case of accidental death in the matter,” police said.
In the second incident, two people were killed in a collision between a motorcycle and a jeep on the Halol Godhra bypass road in Halol under Panchmahal Tuesday night. The deceased have been identified as Yuvraj Parmar (20) and Sanjay Parmar (22), natives of Rampura village under Halol taluka in Panchmahal.
