- Former IPS officer and BJP leader Kiran Bedi was on Sunday appointed as the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry by President Pranab Mukherjee.
- Bedi joined the BJP in January 2015 and had contested the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections but failed to get majority votes.
- She has served in the police force for over 30 years.
- “Extremely grateful to government for giving me such a wonderful opportunity. I don’t consider it as power, to me it’s a resource to deliver,” said Kiran Bedi.
AAP leader and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal wished Bedi on her appointment.
