Kerala Muslim Group to Campaign Against Islamic State

A Muslim group named Kerala Nadvathul Mujahideen (KNM), has decided to launch a well-planned campaign, especially in social media platforms, against Islamic State (IS) ideology which is spreading fast among Muslim youth.

The effort is being taken after reports about few men from Kerala were detained in UAE for propagating IS ideas. Recently UAE had deported two Keralites for propagating IS ideologies through social media.

“We have decided to bring out videos of speeches by our scholars on contentious issues and upload them on the social media. We have been conducting classes regularly to warn the youth against the hate-mongering of the IS,” Abdul Majeed Swalahi, state president of Ithihadu Subbanil Mujahideen (ISM), a feeder organisation of the KNM told TheTimes of India.

He added that IS mocks Islam.

He also says, according to TOI, that the presence of some organisations in Kerala which spread IS similar ideologies makes the situation more complicated.

Establishment of an Islamic Khilafat is impractical in the present scenario. Certain groups that profess uncontrolled spiritualism bordering insanity also pose danger as they are the breeding grounds of potential terrorists. — Majeed Swalahi, state president of Ithihadu Subbanil Mujahideen

He also added that there is a tendency all over India among Muslim community to move towards extremism as there were even discussions in Kerala whether Muslims should celebrate Onam festival.
