Karnataka Minister Hits Man Taking Selfie Behind Him at Event

India

Karnataka Energy Minister DK Shivakumar was caught on camera hitting a man who was clicking a selfie behind him at a public event, on Monday, 20 November.

Shivakumar was addressing the media at a child rights’ event in a Belgaum college when the incident took place, ANI reported. The short video shows a man standing behind the minister clicking a selfie with his mobile phone, when Shivkumar turns back and hits him on the arm.

The minister has called it a ‘normal incident’.

Have basic common sense. When I’m doing my responsibility and addressing the press, how can someone come out for a selfie? It was a normal incident.

Lately, the Energy Minister has been at the centre of controversy. His properties in Bengaluru and in other parts of the country were raided by the Income Tax Department in August this year.

Shivakumar claims he has done no wrong, and that the raids were politically motivated. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah blamed the BJP for the raids.
