The post-mortem report of senior journalist KJ Singh, who was found dead at his Mohali home along with his 92-year-old mother on 23 September, revealed that Singh was stabbed 15 times, reported The Indian Express.

Stab wounds were found on his chest, lower abdomen, right hand, and throat, and he likely died from excessive blood loss, doctors said. The hand marks around Singh’s mother’s neck seem to suggest she was strangled to death.

The motive of the double murder is yet to be ascertained. The police are waiting for CCTV footage from Singh’s neighbour’s house.

Meanwhile, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was set up to probe the deaths on Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh’s directive.

The bodies were found in a pool of blood when the neighbours called the police. The house help was the first to find the two. A Ford Ikon, LCD, and other belongings were missing; however, their gold chains had not been taken.

Singh began his career working with The Indian Express and retired as the chief editor of The Tribune.

Sukhbir Singh Badal, the former Deputy Chief Minister condemned the “ghastly murder” of the journalist, and asked the police to nab the perpetrators.
