A week after journalist Jagendra Singh was allegedly burnt alive, a similar incident of brutality against a journalist has been reported from UP.

According to a report in The Times of India, the TV journalist identified as Haider Khan – who had been reporting on a land usurpation case – was hit with a revolver on his head. He was then tied to a motorcycle and dragged behind it for about 100 metres.

Khan is currently recovering from his injuries in a hospital in UP.

Yesterday around 6 pm I got a call that the eye witness in a robbery case has met with an accident and I should come to rescue him. When I reached the spot I was surrounded by some three-four people. They then started beating me up and hit me with a revolver on my head and dragged me for 100 meters behind a motorcycle.
– Haider Khan told NDTV

The police have registered a case against four people and have started investigations.

Jagendra Singh Set on Fire

The attack in Pilibhit comes a few days after another journalist Jagendra Singh was allegedly set on fire during a police raid at his house in Shahjahanpur District on June 1. According to his family, Singh had been set on fire by police officials. The journalist succumbed to his injuries on June 8.

Jagendra Singh had posted reports on Facebook about illegal mining activities and land grabbing by UP minister Ram Murti Verma.
