According to an India Today report, as Singh's car slowed down due to a speed breaker, unknown gunmen started firing. Singh was hit by 17 bullets while the rest were also shot multiple times, informed Additional Director General RK Malik.

The four were soon rushed to the hospital, but succumbed to their injuries.

The assailants are currently at large and a SIT has been set up to probe the killings.
