Jharkhand Alliance Announced: JMM to Fight 43, Cong 31 & RJD 7

Jharkhand Assembly election will begin from 20 November and will be held in five phases.

An alliance between Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) was announced on Friday, 8 November, for Assembly elections in the 81-constituency state which will take place in five phases beginning from 30 November.

Congress will fight from 31 seats, JMM from 43 seats and RJD will be contesting from seven seats.

According to AICC In Charge RPN Singh, the Opposition will contest under JMM leadership with Hemant Soren as its chief ministerial candidate, PTI reported.

He further said that there will be no “friendly contest.”

“Anybody fighting against official candidate will face action by respective parties,” PTI quoted him as saying.

Announcing the five-phased assembly polls on 1 November, Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora said that the counting of votes will take place on 23 December.
