IRCTC Announces 7-Day Holy Ganga Tirth Yatra Package at Rs 8,965

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), the ticketing arm of the Indian Railways, has announced a Holy Ganga Tirth Yatra weekly package for six nights and seven days, in which travellers will visit places including Varanasi, Sarnath, Gaya and Allahabad.

Passengers can make online bookings through the IRCTC website or through IRCTC's tourist facilitation centre, zonal offices and regional offices.

The train, SC-DNR Express (12791), will depart from Secunderabad Railway station at 10:00 hours on Saturdays.

The IRCTC is charging Rs 25,224 per person for Comfort (3AC) travel and Rs 5,061 for children between five and 11 years of age.

However, an individual will have to pay Rs 22,325 while a child between 5 and 11 years of age will be charged Rs 2162 for Standard (SL) travel.

Tour Itinerary

Day 01: Secunderabad-Varanasi

Departure from Secunderabad Railway Station by Train no. 12791, SC-DNR Express at 10:00 hrs. Full day and night journey.

Day 02: Varanasi

Arrival at Varanasi Railway Station at 14:25 hrs. Transfer to the hotel and check-in.

Includes: Drop at Ghats for attending Ganga aarthi and puja in the evening. Back to the hotel and night-stay.

Day 03: Varanasi

Travellers can go for Ganga Snan and pind pradan puja. They can also visit Kasi Viswanath Temple, Kasi Visalakshi Temple and Annapoorni Temple, BHU, Birla Mandir & Sarnath. Back to the hotel and night-stay.

Day 04: Varanasi-Bodh Gaya

The day includes travel towards Bodh-Gaya and sightseeing of Ramnagar Fort en route.

After arrival at Bodh-Gaya, travellers can visit Mahabodhi Temple, Ajpala Nigrodha -  Bodhi Tree and Great Buddha Statue. Then, proceed towards hotel. After arrival, check into the hotel & night-stay.

Day 05: Bodh Gaya-Gaya-Varanasi

At 05:30 hrs, travellers will be required to depart for Gaya and upon arrival, they can go for ancestor puja and ritual performance at their own cost. They can also visit Ram-Sita Temple, Akshayabat, Vishnupad Temple and Mangla-Gauri Temple (Gaya Shaktipeeth). Then, proceed towards Varanasi at 14:00 hrs after lunch. Arrival at Varanasi around 20:00 hrs. Check into the hotel and night-stay.

Day 06: Varanasi-Allahabad-Secunderabad

After freshen-up at 07:00 hrs; travellers will be required to check-out from the hotel and proceed towards Allahabad. Arrival at Allahabad will be by 10:00 hrs, post which they can go for the Triveni sangam snan or visit Pataalpuri Mandir.

In the afternoon, travellers can visit Anand Bhavan, Swaraj Bhavan, Museum and Kusroo Bage. They will get a drop-off at Allahabad Railway Station to board the train no.12792, DNR-SC Express at 19:00 hrs. The train will depart at 20:40 hrs to cover the journey of night and next day.

Day 07: Secunderabad

Arrival at Secunderabad Railway Station at 21:30 hrs.
