The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) runs an IRCTC eWallet scheme under which a user can deposit money in advance with the corporation and use it as payment option at the time of booking tickets.
However, users are required to pay a registration fee of Rs 50 (plus Applicable Taxes, which are non-refundable), along with transaction charges of Rs 10 (plus Applicable Taxes per transaction).
Once registered, IRCTC eWallet users will have to get their account verified and authenticated through their PAN or Aadhaar.
In case a user chooses to cancel an e-ticket, the due refund will be credited to their IRCTC eWallet account the next day.
An IRCTC eWallet account has a validity of 3 years from the date of registration of the scheme.
How to Book Ticket Through IRCTC eWallet
- Login to IRCTC with your user ID and password.
- Click on the ‘IRCTC eWallet Registration’ link under IRCTC eWallet Section under ‘Plan my travel’.
- Complete verification process by providing PAN or Aadhaar and other details.
- Deposit one-time registration fee of Rs 50 (Excluding Applicable Taxes) online with any of the available payment options.
- Credit the IRCTC eWallet account with the minimum deposit of Rs 100 and top up with the required booking amount. Maximum amount permitted in user's account is Rs 10,000.
- Pay ticket booking amount through IRCTC eWallet which is displayed as payment option along with other banks.
