Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the general secretary of the Indian National Congress Party paid a tribute to her late grandmother and former prime minister Indira Gandhi on her 102nd birth anniversary.

Indira Gandhi the former prime minister of India was born on 19 November 1917, to Jawahar Lal Nehru the first prime minister of India and Kamla Nehru. She was the only lady prime minister till date. She served as the prime minister of India from 1966 to 1977 and again from 1980 till her assassination in the year 1984. She was a lady of great honour and a central figure in the Indian National Congress party.

To pay respect on her 102nd birth anniversary, Priyanka Gandhi tweeted a poem of William Ernest Henley along with an old photograph of her playing with her grandmother Indira Gandhi.

Apart from her, Rahul Gandhi, her brother and member of the Indian National Congress party also paid a tribute to his grandmother by tweeting a picture of her.

Sonia Gandhi, interim president of the INC and Manmohan Singh, former prime minister of India were among other leaders who also wished and paid tribute to the late leader.
