Gaurav Tiwari, founder and CEO of the Indian Paranormal Society, spent a large part of his life dedicated to unraveling mysteries of the unknown. But his death is shrouded in a mystery of its own.

On Thursday morning, Tiwari was found dead in the bathroom of his flat in Dwarka, reported The Times of India. There was a thin black line across his neck, according to the report. Though police suspect his death is a case of suicide, his family told TOI that he had complained to his wife of “a negative force pulling him towards it.”

Tiwari’s wife ignored it, assuming he was depressed because of work pressure. The police are still clueless about the motive of the alleged suicide.

Tiwari, a commercial pilot by training, had visited over 6,000 ‘haunted’ locations and investigated paranormal activities, ‘UFO abductions’ and ‘mysterious creatures’, according to the Indian Paranormal Society website.

Tiwari’s friends told TOI that his career as a commercial pilot suddenly plummeted after he moved into a house which was supposedly haunted. This propelled him to study “the paranormal”, leading him to an alternative career path.

He was a certified paranormal investigator, a certified UFO field investigator and a para-nexus representative in India. He has been part of shows such as Haunted Weekends with Sunny Leone and MTV’s Girl’s Night Out with VJ Ranvijay . He has shows like Bhoot Aaya and Fear Files to his credit. He also acted in two movies, 16 December and Tango Charlie.

The police maintain that the death was caused by asphyxia but are awaiting a full autopsy report.
