Imran Khan to Take Oath as Pak PM on 18 August, Meets Indian Envoy

Cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan will take oath as the Prime Minister of Pakistan on 18 August, ANI reported. The ceremony will reportedly be a low-key affair and will be attended by close friends and family.

Earlier on Friday, Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Ajay Bisaria and Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh held a courtesy meeting with Khan, reported ANI.

The Indian High Commissioner presented a cricket bat, signed by the entire Indian cricket team to the Prime Minister-in-waiting, after the two met to discuss the prospects of future relationship between the two neighbouring countries.

The Indian envoy to Pakistan also congratulated the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief on his electoral success in the 26 July polls held in which the party emerged victorious with 116 seats in the National Assembly, reported IANS.

Javed had also confirmed that three former Indian cricketers Kapil Dev, Novjot Singh Sidhu and Sunil Gavaskar had been invited to the oath-taking ceremony.
