In the wake of a terror attack on an army convoy in Pampore region of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, security of the forces during their movement on Srinagar-Jammu national highway was reviewed on Sunday. A high level meeting chaired by state police chief K Rajendra Kumar took place where Kumar pressed for devising a foolproof mechanism.
The Director General of Police then held a meeting with Srinagar-based Corps Commander Lt Gen J S Sandhu and discussed implementation of different decisions with regard to strengthening and augmentation of security setup across Kashmir Valley.
At the meeting with officials of police, army and paramilitary forces, Kumar emphasised the need for greater coordination and cooperation among the various forces and agencies.
Three soldiers were killed and two were injured after an army convoy came under attack in the Pampore region of Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.
One of the killed jawans was from the 36 Rashtriya Rifles battalion and the two others from 51 Rashtriya Rifles.
The convoy was attacked on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway. Search operations are underway in the area.
